Neat Image, Thank you Thank you thank you

I read about Neat Image here, I don't remember who gave the link but I downloaded it, Ran it in the auto mode. ( I let it do its thing) and here is the results. this is a scanned pic I really wanted to save. Neat Image was done last as I just got the prog and had already done other enhancements. I understand it should be done first but it did a great job anyway. First pic unfiltered. Look at sky. Second Pic filtered.

Love that prog.

Can anyone comment on the quality & utility differences between Neat Image and using Pekka's [ISO specific] Noise filter actions for Photoshop? (These are the 'free' actions that Pekka began posted for the D30 and later with the D60). I can appreciate Neat Image's batch capability, but was curious whether there are other significant differences. (I'm trying to determine whether to spend the $55-75 on a version of Neat Image vs something else).

Pekka's actions offer a convenient and relatively fast method to reduce noise.

Neat Image is more sophisticated and appears to use image processing theory and algorithms that go far beyond simple selective blurring of channels in appropriate color spaces. You have to invest time into understanding Neat Image - even if you only use its defaults. It is a very powerful tool and some images definitely benefit from using its more advanced features. Download a demo version of Neat Image and apply to a high noise image. I think you'll be impressed, if not amazed.

Because Neat Image is slow, you need its batch capability if you're going to use it regularly or use it ocasionally on a large number of images.
