Something is not quite right with this effect.... The shadow of the plane should NOT be in the picture, the plane shadow should exist only on the 'desk' as like the photos shadow.

Try a panarama frame, to capture the wings in to the photo, but allow the nose to escape the frame. This might be more effective. Else you could trim the wings at the photo edge, and still allow only the nose to pop out.

The nose out... didn't think of that, I will try it. I have taken note of the shadow "in" the picture and will try it without. It was just easier to select the whole airplane, the instructions for this method actually state "select the areas of the photo you want to pop out".

Thanks for the critique.

the plain would cast a shadow if it was coming out of a picture, thus rendering the picture as an object seperate from the plain.

mattI suppose both ways would work... I will experiment... I think each image may need it's own tweaking.

See here for a portrait shot b+w.

Here is another try at the airplane. I have found the most "realistic" effect can be achieved if the popped out portion of the photo is limited to one edge. Check out the right (as you look at it, not the starboard side)wing's shadow, it overlaps the background.
