I want to enlighten everyone on the service of BROADWAY PHOTO. I am having a bad experience and will never buy there again.......

I ordered a Digital Rebel from BROADWAY PHOTO, I called before hand to be sure they had it in stock, which the salesman told me they did. Anyway, I was told when ordering it would b 1-2 business days until they shipped and I would receive an email with the tracking number.

Its almost a week and a half later and nothing. I tried emailing their "ONLINE" support, which it states to if you need assistance, I get this pre-typewritten email back.

"Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for shopping at bwayphoto.com In order to help you with this and any other inquiry that you may have please contact our camera savvy product information staff at (800) 687-1740.

Thank You
Customer Service"

Try calling them....HAHA... if you dont mind sitting on hold for an hour.... I should have suspected something when I called to order and was placed on hold for 15 minutes....

DO NOT BUY FROM BROADWAY PHOTO unless you like the hassles, I will call again tomorrow and demand a refund.. Why is it that these companies are fast to take your money, and slow with shipping... not to mention I paid $30 for shipping... This sucks

BUYER BEWARE....

With all of the negative publicity that is out there about Broadway Photo, it is difficult to imagine why anybody is trying them. We've discussed them in this forum, mostly negative. In every place else that counts, like Reseller Ratings, they get a mostly negative score.

If I were you, I would not let my true identity be known. Otherwise, you are going to have every scam photo deal coming your way.

Thanks for the tip, though there are better places to post this as well. Please go to http://www.resellerratings.com/ and http://www.bizrate.com/ratings_guide/guide.xpml and post your rating of this business and your ordeal.

These sites are great - I highly recommend them to anyone new to buying online. Around here I think you'll find that many (most?) frequent B & H and Adorama and a few others I can't remember.

I am sorry to hear you have had such a bad experience. I know there are some people that this post may benefit. I just wish you had found this forum sooner. There is a lot of information available about these crooked dealers.

You can't hardly beat B&H for service and availability.

Yes, I second B&H. I also have had good dealings with KEH.com and Adorama (though Adorama's turnaround from order time to shipping time isn't as quick as the other two).

I almost ordered from Broadway not too long ago, but was warned off by someone at another camera web site so I avoided. From your experiences, that seems like a good move.

I think it was Broadway that a buddy tried to buy a 10D from. They sold him the camera and the next day called to say that shipping would be delayed by 7-10 days due to stock issues. Then the pressure began they tried to sell him CF cards, higher than he would have paid locally and a neck strap, a flash, a lens and if memory serves me correctly a manual for the camera for $19.
It was at that point that he told the guy he only wanted the camera and everything that came with it. The guy said it was body only, nothing else. Daryl then just told the guy to cancel the order.

BUYER BEWARE....

It's unfortunate that you had to learn this lesson the hard way, but there are vendors out there who advertise unrealistically low prices for popular products to suck people in, then try to make back the difference by hard-selling overpriced accessories, or by charging extra for "accessories" that are really normally included. If you buy in to all the extra stuff, they'll ship you the gear, though any "savings" will have long since been lost. If you don't buy in to all the extra stuff, they will claim your stuff is out-of-stock, and string you along indefinitely.

When everybody is selling something for $1500, and one or two guys are selling the same thing for $1200, an alarm has to go off in your head...

The funny thing is that they are not selling the camera for any cheaper a price, I still paid $999 with the lens and $29 shipping. Thats what lead me to believe this company was legit. I sent them a threatening letter yesterday about me writing to the BBB, I hope it scares them enough to get on the stick and ship my darn camera. (Watch it be in peices when it gets here) I will flip...LOL...

How did you pay for this? I think the first step would be to contact your credit card co. and file a fraud report. Luckily, I've never had to do this, but I do know someone who had a terrible experience, filed a report with the card co, the charge was reversed and he purchased the equipment from another vendor.

It certainly wouldn't hurt to contact the card co and see what buyer protections you have.
