View Full Version : Remote flash trigger on G5

Bought an infrared flash trigger from Interfit (GB) for my twin head studio flash setup. Works perfectly with the EOS3, but not with the G5. Yet if I connect a sync lead to the G5 via a simple hotshoe adapter, it works every time.
Baffled!
P.S. It doesn't seem to matter what shutterspeed, aperture or program I select- il ne marche pas, as they say in France.
Any ideas? :(

C'mon you lot!
There must be someone out there who has used a studio flash setup with a G2, G3 or G5, and who has a theory or three.
Please........(Does that sound a little too desperate?)
:D :D :D

Hi Ciarank (funny talking to myself!)
If you try shooting with the flash on the G5 switched on, but with the power down a little, with the camera set on Manual, at 1/250 sec and whatever aperture you need for your studio flash, as long as the built in flash is within sight of the sensors on your flash heads, they should go off ok. No need for a remote trigger yoke atall atall. (Irish vernacular)
Begod, so they do.
Success at last.
Nice talking to y'all. :D

You might find that the Infrared trigger is not fully compatible with the G5 hot shoe? I know some third party flashes (the infrared triggers are basically infrared flashes) use dodgy trigger voltages that are no good with the G3/5.
Anyway, if you put an infrared filter over the G5 flash, and make sure it is on (might have to up the power), you should still be able to trigger the slave, without the G5's flash messing with your lighting.
