I've been using MPIX for about a year now for most of my photo processing and I've been extremely happy with everything about them. Last week, they sent me an e-mail inviting me to be a customer of their parent company, Miller's Professional Imaging. I've been so happy with MPIX that I was quite excited to have the opportunity to become a customer of their parent company. I wasn't sure what to expect but I figured it would be somewhat like MPIX only more content and options. Well, it does have more content and options but the one thing I didn't expect was the huge price jump. For instance, a 4x6 through MPIX is .29 cents. A 4x6 through Millers is $1.56, and that's for a non-color corrected "thrift" print. I mainly shoot weddings and events so the 4x6 is a popular size for me and when ordering 3-400 different 4x6's that price difference really adds up fast. So....I guess I'm trying to justify the price difference. I figure that I must be missing something here but I can't figure it out....why the higher prices? I don't think I've ever seen a price that high for a single 4x6 print....is there something special about them that sets them apart from the prints I get from MPIX? Their other print sizes are also more expensive but not by as much. For example, an 8x10 is $3.07 while MPIX is $1.99, a 5x7 is $1.89 while MPIX is .99 cents. Anyways, I'm a bit disappointed by this experience and unless someone can point out a good reason why I should spend so much more money on prints, I doubt that I'll be able to use them. Supposedly they are going to be contacting me and sending me a "welcome pack" so I'll voice my concerns to them at that time, but in the mean time, I would like to hear from others who have used their services.
