I use the Canon Speedlite 550EX. What kind of the slave units go with it. I heard I can get a slave unit for a couple of dollars???? Where is the best place to buy?
Thanks everybody!

Have a look on the B&H site. Thye'll have plenty of relatively inexpensive slaves for sale, although they won't be quite as cheap as a couple of bucks. Wein makes some good ones.
You will be able to use the 550 on the manual settings though. It doesn't have a conventional automatic setting like a Vivitar 283. With a 283 you could set it up on Automatic, select f8 and it'd pretty much give it to you. With the 550 you'll have to use the correct manual power setting and it'd be nice to use a flash meter to check the output.
Of course anyone else in the room with a flash is going to trigger your slaved flash, so be warned. And if you are using another 550 as a triggering device IT must be on manual too or you'll need a special slave that will ignore the first E-TTL pulse. If you want to use the Master slave on E-TTL then you don't need a slave at all but can use the built in Canon Wireless TTL system.
