View Full Version : Banding with my i9100

I just bought a new i9100 and I'm noticing some fairly heavy banding in my prints. I did a print head alignment, and that did not help. In fact, maybe it will help illuminate the problem.

During print head alignment, I am asked to choose the patch with no flaws for each color. Well, except for Photo Magenta, they all have flaws! They all exhibit banding, some at the ends of the rectangle, some across the whole thing. Is this normal? Can someone else with an i9100 tell me if they have "flawless" rectangles for each color? Is this particular printer defective?

Thanks a lot for any help.

I've noticed this phenomenon on my lowly s600 when I was using crappy paper.

What paper are you using on your printer?

This is on Canon Glossy Photo Paper. I know there is better paper (like Photo Paper Plus Glossy), but I would hope this would be good enough.

I did run print head alignment using standard crappy paper, though. I'd hate to waste glossy paper for alignment, but is this what I should be doing?

Thanks for the input!

Sounds bad,. I do not think this is normal behavior at all. Can you bring it back and trade it?

Hey CDS,

Yes, I can trade it in. This is probably my best option right now. Thankfully it happened now, and not two weeks from now when it would have been too late. Printers, printers...
