Though again there were not many entries for this "busy" period of time, I think the quality of the entries are plenty high. Well at least it made my duty easier! ;) Thanks everybody for taking the time to summit your photos! :p

1st
marie - 'tis the season to be ...busy (http://www.pbase.com/image/71678982/original.jpg)
Beautiful captured of busy people photography with great energy. I like the facial expression of the woman; suggesting there are busy thinking on her mind. I also like the busy blurred background suggested that panning technique has been used. Congratulations!

2nd
gkuenning - Grading at 2 AM (http://www.cs.hmc.edu/~geoff/friendpix/potn/P2006.12.16-01.57.06-2148-cropped.jpg)
I hope you finished the grading by now Geoff! I like the viewpoint and lighting of this image. The exam papers in the foreground indicates there more than half of the task to be performed. Geoff gets a bonus point as he shot this image at 2 AM - Busy grading and still have time to shoot for the contest! His Exif data comfirmed the time; and the shutter speed of 1/8" suggested the camera was mounted on a tripod?!? Great job!

3rd
teekay - Multi-tasking: Talking Into His Headset Mike As Well (http://community.netidea.com/teekay/temp/Busy.jpg)
A total concentration of the performer demonstrates total coordination of his mind and body. I like the way teekay framed his image superbly with the busily parked cars and the crowd related to the subject. Well done!

Honourable mention
rpoltsr - buy and win a car! (http://www.geocities.com/r_polit_2/pictures/potnentries/97_busycounter_8698.jpg)
A great demonstration of awesome lighting shot by using high ISO and ususal spot-on exposure summitted by rpoltsr. The seller seems to be extremely busied serving the crowd! The people on the left edge of the image suggested at least this is where the crowd lined up from patiently. Lovely capture!

Over to marie now!

Challenge #97 - Busy

The comments of gkuenning & marie from last week challenge, have given me a good idea about this week's theme "Busy" as most of us are - shopping for presents and wrapping them, hanging the decorations, planning for holiday or vacation etc; :D

Doesn't have to relate to Christmas, whatever you think is "busy", let's see some of your nicely composed captures. So don't forget to tag along your camera from whatever you do, won't you? ;)

Happy shooting! :p

Thanks for the kind comments, Boutty. No, I'm not quite done. The exams have been marked and totaled, but I still need to produce a curve, integrate homework grades, and submit everything to the registrar. Fortunately, the remaining work is relatively light and I have until Thursday, I have a bit of goof-off time available.

BTW, if you look closely at the laptop screen in the photo, you'll note that it's open to the Speed Challenge page!

Yes, it was a tripod shot. I used the self timer, experimented with angles, and took quite a few pictures to get the pose just right. I thought it was a nice touch to include the clock.

(Oh, and at the time of the shot there was far more than 50% to be done. I do only one question at a time, so I make many passes through the stack--and there was a whole other course that hadn't yet been touched.)

A great demonstration of awesome lighting shot by using high ISO and usual spot-on exposure submitted by rpoltsr...Lovely capture!

Thank you Boutty your comments made of my picture a better shot than it really is.
The lighting was just there, and I was lucky: Fluorescent light in the ceiling, tungsten light over the counter and natural light from the mall gate at left were acting upon the people on the line. It was a RAW shot so I experimented with white balance until I got not too much blue cast from neither of the light sources (4500 K). Then a whole +1 exposure compensation and the use of ‘Linear Contrast’ settings in Adobe Lightroom BETA4 to get some detail in the shadows.
There was a security guard behind me asking not to shot pictures, so I got only one picture there. (Sound was set to Mute, there was no shutter sound for it).

Merry Christmas!
