Talk about getting in the goallies face

So nearly a goal no. 1

So nearly a goal no. 2

And finally, not the best quality picture but it does show a level of concentration of the goallie in a previous match.

Alan,
Not bad at all given the light up there.
I've shot a couple of times at Edinburgh when the Blaze have been up. The light there isn't the best I know. I was going to shoot when Coventry were up in November but my lens took a puck in the mid week game (Ouch.)
Have you tried from the first row so you're just above the glass? That might also help you get a bit more light.
You'll have to come down to Coventry and say hi when the Caps are down.
What ISO were you using 800 or 1600?

Thanks guys
Scott,
Glad someone else knows how bad Murrayfield ice rink is. Sorry to hear about the lense (always a concern with hockey). I have been a bit lazy so far and sat in my normal seat (some 10 rows from the front) gives a good view at the Caps goallie in P1 and 3 as that is where most action takes place. As for ISO i've moved up to 3200 and started to run the images through Noise Ninja. IMHO I haven't quite got the best out of NN and the images start to look a bit plastic, always looking to improve.
I do have some photos from the Coventry double header weekend on my website http://www.alancrawford.co.uk/gallery_47883.html

If can do a bit of travelling then when I get down to Coventry I'll give you a call.

You'll get much better results lower down the arena as the light is brighter, I've shot 1600 there no problem with a sigma lens so you should be able to do that if not a bit better with an L series.
Also Neat Image is better than Noise Ninja at higher ISO it doesn't make the image as soft.
