Although I normally am more often than not at a football pitch, I got a warmer venue for this weekends shooting and covered a swim meet. Amazed how difficult the light in a swimming pool was, so had to shoot at 1600. If I can work this multiple post here goes

My brother runs the local water polo club and keeps hassling me to do some pics. Any quick tips? How did you meter the swimmers, and any comp for reflectiions?

Nice work there, 1 and 4 are my favourites from there.
How did you find the whole moisture issue with moving into warm, wet arena (poolside, not the pool!!!:D ) from the cold outside? Any kit condensation issues? Or was it all fine?

Condensation wasn't to much of a problem although I thought it might be, so I got to the pool about an hour before the start to let my gear adjust. The biggest problem was from splashes as the swimmers turned, so I did have to wipe the lens a few times which I hate doing to often. I custom set the white balance to get rid of the orange cast that the lights produced which meant the only photoshop work was levels sharpening and a bit of cropping. Speed was the biggest issue so I ended up finding the brightest part of the pool so I could get fast enough speeds to freeze the action. The rest of the shots taken are here if anyone is interested

Nice job with the indoor shots. this is really difficult to get exposure and freezing the action in these lighting conditions. You did great picking a bright spot in the pool -

New to the digital camera, please talk to me more about the adjustment you made with the while balance. I have seen others shoot a white piece of paper to adjust the white balance, but not sure how to go about that. I use a canon 20d and the nervous about messing up with the adjustments. Any info would be much appreciated. Did you use flash?

A bit of white paper or card will indeed do it. What you need to do is to set the white balance of your camera from AWB ( auto) to custom (on mine its a flower type symbol) take a shot of the white card in the lights of the pool. Then go into your menu button The first option down is White Balance. If you select that it will display the picture you have taken of the white card and ask you if you would like to set that as White Balance. Just select to say yes and thats about it really. Hope that helps
