Well, since we know that it's a digital camera (from the CF card door) and since it's got a remote control receiver (on the grip) and there's only one model that I know of that has that, it must be a Digital Rebel that's gotten a reverse facial treatment of Michael Jackson.

First it was the 18-55 EF-S lens hack (and I literally mean a hack!) and now this. There are a bunch of really creative folks in that neck of the woods, aren't there. :?

So what's the story on the lens - a 28-80 mm L lens :?:
The 28-80/2.8-4 L USM was Canon's first (1989) professional L zoom in that range, employing USM with not-full-time-MF. Was replaced by 28-70/2.8 and then 24-70/2.8.

Amazing. However, the Canon logo on the front of the camera is the wrong font.
For all the time they put into this, and considering what that person's time must be worth, it would have been cheaper just to get a 10D. But, I guess someone had to do it.
So the Drebel is now the official hacker camera. The hacked S-series lens, the hacked firmware (what a joke) and now the hacked black body.
Makes you wonder if they actually shoot any photos at all.

How hard can it be to paint it? I'd say a lot easier than body painting your grandma. :D

Mark my word. In no time at all someone will have a hack of a 10D to look like the 1DII. They'll superglue the internal flash so it doesn't pop up and they'll superglue the BG-ED3 to the body after removig the screw and filling its space with body putty.

How incredibly stupid. Christ if you want to paint something paint the white lenses. When my DR has the 70-200L lens on it. The problem is not the bit of silver on the camera body. It is that lens that cries out "LOOK AT ME. LOOK AT ME. I'M AN EXPENSIVE LENS!!!!!!"
Oh well, like the Rolling Stones said "Paint it black"

LOL! I love it Leo! I wonder when the first petition will be started by some whiny 10D owner thinking they should have some of the MKII features in a magical, and free firmware upgrade.

If I can't raise another 3 grand by April, I think I'll try to sweet-talk Thos or IanD to start the petition 'cuz people listen when they talk. After all, Thos' got 2 x 10D and Ian, well, he's got Gitzo and that's serious stuff right there!
People would just laugh me out of town if I tried it myself.

I'm actually thinking of starting two petitions. (one for each 10D)
I'm also thinking of starting a petition to have air bags installed on L lenses for klutzes like me.

Thos, the airbag won't do any good since they usually inflate AFTER the impact! I would suggest that you tie a cord around your neck and attach it to the L lens but I'm afraid you might just end up hanging yourself with the cord. :?
How about getting one of those inflatable tubes little kids put around their arms when they go swimming? Put it around your L lens for protection.

The real answer is just to not be a dumbass like I was today. One of these days I'm going to learn that round things roll, and according to Murphy's Law, to exactly the spot where they will inflict the most damage.
Dumbass.

You really shouldn't be calling Gitzo names. You're going to hurt his feelings!
