How do some folks take black and white photos with only one or two objects in color? Such as: http://www.photosig.com/go/photos/view?id=1152265.

It depends on what program you're using. In PS you can remove the the color from a photo & use the history brush to replace the color.
Better yet check out the following website. http://www.rogercavanagh.com/pstips/02.htm

With PSP 8 I simply make a copy of the color photo, paste the copy as a new image, convert to greyscale, copy the greyscale image, and past as a new layer on top of the color image. The use the eraser tool to erase the sections I want in color from the greyscale image, exposing the color bottom layer.

Very easy, and a nice effect.

If you post the fullsize picture Ill tell you the "one-step" process to making it look like that :D

I too would like to see a "one-step" process to doing that. That must be quite the trick!

i know a very good trick.

create a new file in photoshop, with RBG colour.

copy your photo in. in that layer only, put the saturation down to -100. DON"T convert to B$W because this wil convert your file into a black and white image.

then create a new layer ontop. in the drop down menu appy the "colour" action to that layer. and simply use a paint brush to colour in whatever you want in colour. Use a small brush on the edges so that its nice and sharp.

There is no one click solution, but with this method its much easier because you don't need o cut anything out and if you make a mistake you just delete your colour layer.

hopes this helps!
