They are on the market in Calgary, Canada. The price is $100 more than the champagne colored ones. I think that they include a different media for memory, but not certain. The store is Vistek, web address is:

In Ontario, Henry's have it listed in their Web store for $1399.99 CDN. There is no indication of any differences between it and the regular G2 for $1299.99. I talked to one of their in store salespeople who indicated there was no difference - just a black body.

Of interest, Henry's have listed the G2 packaged with Ultra flash cards - a 128 and a 256 listing a minor savings.

Their web address and store is at:

Check the Canon Powershot site as well. They had a press release about the black G2. The link to it leads to the regular G2 information. It may have more info. Try:

Carmans photo in Ontario also has them (www.carmans.com). I don't see them on their web page, but they are listing them with a Buy It Now of $799 on EBay now. They seem to be disappearing fast. Could be because I bought one of them ;-)

They have great feedback and responded to my purchase quickly (on a Saturday). Never dealt with them before, so we'll see.

Regarding the differences between the two G2's, the CANON website has this to say:

"All camera features are the same as the standard G2 except the support added for Exif 2.2 (Exif Print), CP-100 Direct Print and BJ Direct Print."

Note: The site also says that there will be a firmware upgrade in 2nd quarter 2002 to give the original G2's the same print capability.

Hello Folks:

I just purchased a G2 (what a cool device). I noted a black bodied model on Canon's website before I made my purchase, so when I ordered mine, I asked for the black one.

I made this purchase at an upstate New York camera shop. It took quite a while (a month) to get the camera and when it arived, it was indeed silver, not black.

By then, I decided that the color didn't matter that much to me and I kept it.

My guess is that the black model's coming, but that it's not (very) available just yet.

Just got mine today from Canoga Cameras

http://www.canogacamera.com/

Price was $50 more ($749) than the original model, but came with a case and an extra 96 MB CF card so I thought the $50 was worth it.
