Just a brief selection of pics from a long weekend gone in bonnie Scotland. The rugby is from the Heineken Cup match between Borders vs. Biarritz on Saturday in Galashiels, and the football comes from the SPL game between Dunfermline vs. Celtic on Sunday.

This is my first post with pics, so I hope these images appear as they should...fingers crossed!

2. Getting a bit arty during a breakdown in play in the middle of the park!

3. Jean-Baptiste Gobelet of Biarritz drives through the Borders defence.

4. Serge Betsen of Biarritz dump tackles a Borders opponent during a very one-sided match.

5. Celtic captain Neil Lennon argues with his goalkeeper Artur Boruc after Dunfermline scored a late goal on the final whistle. Nice n' grainy from the far end shot at about ISO1250 / 1/500th / f2.8 / 400mm!

6. Shunsuke Nakamura of Celtic is surrounded by Dunfermline opponents. Nakamura was one of the main reasons for my trip to Scotland.

7. Stephen Simmons of Dunfermline launches in on a tackle on Mark Wilson of Celtic.

8. Lee Naylor of Celtic squeezes between two Dunfermline opponents.

Just felt after a long weekend I'd like to get a few pics online...feedback always welcome, cheers!

Love the dump tackle Simon - you also seemed to have coped well with some difficult lighting at the Celtic game. Thanks for sharing

Nice job there Simon, like the pic of Nakamura, especially given he was one of the reasons you were there.

Question re Lennon and his keeper......why not pic on someone your own size?!! :D

Good work though - sounds like it was a long weekend!

Cheers guys, thought the weekend went well on the whole (despite the miserable weather!). Part of the attraction was the 1.30pm kick-off on Saturday (in gorgeous, albeit cold, weather) and the 2pm kick-off Sunday...nice bit of daylight for a change.

Lennon and the keeper indeed Paul...that pic got used Monday and until I'd seen it in context with an article, I hadn't realised how amusing it looked!

Really nice consistant images Simon. I really like the second one. It's a keeper. I also like you watermark.

I like #2 .. To be fair action shots of rugby and football are a plenty.. I know I have thousands :).. it needs somehting like that to stand out...

Anyone else look at the first shot and ping! thats a 400 2.8 ? :)

What are licence rules in scotland like.. same as here I suspect.. or are they a little more lapse ?

Womens soccer kicks off at 1pm or 2pm on sundays so I ahve been doing them for the light.. its cheaper not to turn on the floodlights eh :)

KIPAX and Darren, thanks for the comments...much appreciated...

Tony (KIPAX) - with regards to the licence situation, I'm not sure how that side of things differs from the FA. Although the SPL is relatively high-profile as far as Celtic and Rangers go, you'd otherwise be pushed to realise it was a top flight domestic league, looking at the quality of football on show!!

Apart from Nakamura, indeed the lure to the fixtures was the early kick-offs, as light (for December) was relatively acceptable - the rugby weather was glorious, shame the same couldn't be said for Dunfermline!
