Canon Digital IXUS 850 IS or the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T10?

ok am ordering in two days... Went into Jessops today and i held the Sony and thought; this is nice! but it's not a wide angle... and the canon has the IS and mostly is on the higher ground... but i was thinking the Canon is like £50 more- is it worth it? is the canon the best? also you know i have got a nice canon 350D SLR so this would really only be for when i can't carry the 350D around so there is not point trying to get the best compact is there. Is the Sony's Image stabiliser (equivalent) good? I'm not the steadiest person so this would be useful and plus the Sony is thinner and does look so cool lol
So does anyone know any reasons why i shouldn't go for the Sony? is the canon that much better for the size...? thanks for ANY help

--edit-- also i noticed that the canon has the wide angle down to 28 whereas the sony is at 35, now would this be a deciding factor as i would like to be able to take some landscape shot when i can but i don't know it 7mm will make a huge difference?

Here is an example of the 28mm lense on the SD800. I don't think I could have crammed all this in a 35mm.

Whilst it takes decent images the LCD screen on the Ixus 850IS suffers from incredibly distracting flare if there are any point light sources in the image.
The recorded image is pretty good but I dearly regret getting the 850IS as the screen problem ("feature" according to Canon) is a big off-putter IMO.

I have had cheaper point and shoots in the past (Casio and Sony) that have had far more usuable LCDs - Canon has definitely gone down in my estimation with this model.

If the optical viewfinder was larger and therefore more usable then the LCd would not be as big a problem.
Before buying point the Canon and one of the store lights and you'll soon see what I mean.

I don't take images with the LCD screen!! One of the advantages of the SD800 is if the LCD has a display problem just switch to the viewfinder. By the way the movies are great also.

Before you buy from Jessops, look up and print off the cost of the 850IS at cameras2u.co.uk. Jessops will price match that site - they can't argue otherwise, because they own it!I bought an 850IS from Jessops 2 weeks ago for £250, and the IS was £330 on the shelves. It just might make a difference to your decision. As for the 850IS, it's superb in the real world and that 7 mm makes a massive difference.

The LCD screen is not a problem as some would tend to describe. While not as "plasma like" as the Panasonics, it produces great viewing and the pictures themselves (which is why we buy the camera) are stellar.
