Sorry for disappearing for so long. Work and personal life have been keeping me busy.
I have seen one male Yellow-headed Blackbirds before, but this time i saw a group of five at Hornsby. All male. They didn't seem to mind my presence but only if i stayed in my car. They were busy feeding in the not-so-photogenic habitat. It's extremely hard to get a clear background, or isolated subject. Oh well..... :)
All uncropped. Only pp'ed and resized. C/C always welcome.
Wah! Busy, busy, busy background:p [266mm, f8, 1/125s, ISO400, Flash]

Great series here Fee and I would be happy with any one of them. Fantastic looking bird.
Never see these birds around here yet for some unknown reason one showed up in the dead of winter 10 months ago...about an hour's drive from here and was seen and photographed over a period of a few weeks by several lucky people...not me:cry:

Wow what an interesting bird. Very nice series! Thanks MDoc. Glad you like the series.
Great series and wonderful birds! Did the birds react much to your flash? Thanks for the comment Dennis. The birds didn't mind the flash at all. I guess my flash is much weaker compared to the sunlight reflected off my windshield and car window.
Excellent series as always Fee. Brilliant work. :-)Thanks Sindri. Your feedback is always appreciated.

KarenHi Karen. Problem could be flickr's link or the network. Please try again at different time or different computer.

Never see these birds around here yet for some unknown reason one showed up in the dead of winter 10 months ago...about an hour's drive from here and was seen and photographed over a period of a few weeks by several lucky people...not me:cry:Thanks Gary. Here, too, we only have a window of 2 or 3 weeks per year to see them. They stop by briefly and hang out with the grackles during their migration. I really lucked out when out shooting there that day. :)
Nice set Fee. The colorings on these guys is amazing. Good find. Great shots!Hi Keith. Thanks for the kind comment. Yellow always looks good on black. :)
Love the bird's color. Very nice series Fee.Thanks Reyno. They like to stay low and not much flying. Luckily the color combination makes them easier to find.
Great comeback Fee. Lovely birds. Never heard of them before. About how big are they? :)Thanks Mitch. Glad to be back. They are about the size of a blue jay or red-winged blackbird.

What a beautiful blackbird. Well done Fee. My favorite shot is the first one. Is Hornsby in Texas? Thanks for the kind words Dennis. Hornsby Bend (http://www.hornsbybend.org/)is a famous local birding place in Austin, TX. It's not a park or recreation area, but a city-owned Water Utility's Center. They have a few large ponds for environmental research which attracts many birds throughout the year. I guess it's like a mini Ding Darling in FL. :D
Welcome back Fee and thanks for sharing these great shots. Like Gary I was unable to see the one yellow head that visited here last winter. Thanks Stephen. Glad i finally have time to process and post a few photos :). The climate has definitely changed in the past few years. Maybe you guys will have another chance to see the YHB sooner than later.
Nice job on the exposures. I really like the last shot! Thanks Dan. I was worried about the black and yellow would throw the exposure off. Luckily them turned out not too bad.:)

Great shots all.
I love this bird- I couldn't believe my eyes when I first saw one. I thought it must be some kind of mistake. No pics yet though- a must for next summer- you've inspired me- given me a quest! Thanks.;)
