How water resistant is my 10D ?

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering something, I've ordered a 10D with 28-135 IS USM. I would like to know how water resistant is my camera. I'm in the wolrd of digital camera for years (I still own a S45). And I know that water and the S45 aren't going together.

Do you use yours when it is raining/snowing or do you kept for only completely dry times?

I would highly suggest keeping it as dry as you can. Any water on the body could get into the camera, because it is not sealed like the 1D. Even they are not water proof, but water resistant. Water inside the camera will ruin your day. :cry:

The 10D is not that different in build from a D60 and I keep mine dry at all times. When I shoot in the rain, I have found that a kitchen trash bag with holds in the right spots are the cheapest way to keep it dry.
I normally shoot a 70-200f2.8L when in these conditions, so i just push a hole in the bag and pull it over the lens hood and over the body. Poke another hole in the bag for the eyepiece and then slide the eyepiece pad over the bag to hold it in place...

I've used my 10D in light (misting rain) and light snow (hard to avoid it in Oregon this time of year), but I did protect it with a plastic bag. I wouldn't hesitate to use it in fog or mist, but I would be wary of using is situations where it could definitely get wet. There are no seals around the CF access door and I'm sure water could find it's way into the tiny gaps around the control buttons and switches.

I've had my D60 out in a rain sprinkle many times, so a few drops of rain on the outer case is no big deal. However, I wouldn't want to see those drops get into the buttons and compartments.

The only thing you really have to hate is when it is a cloud of ducks flying overhead.
