Is it worth an upgrade?

I have an SD700. Now the SD800 is looking very appealing to me with the wide lens, as I'd have more use for that then the extra zoom. What do you guys think?

If you need a wider angle capability, then you need the camera that has it. You've identified a specific need that upgrading will address. If you're ready to pay the price, go for it.

if you play around and use ebay 10% coupon, you can get sd800 for just over $300....
but they are now saying it ships early january....
