Hi gang-
My D60 arrived today; B&H (Henry Posner), told me when I ordered it that I wouldn't have it by daylight savings time... but definitely before Mayday! (Apparently daylight savings time is different in NYC :-)
Anyway, I'm sure as heck not complaining; however, the downside to getting one from the first batch is that all the 3rd party software developers haven't had a chance to catch up with the camera yet. (And most of the GOOD stuff is 3rd party!)
1) Breezebrowser (my favorite) doesn't work with the D60 RAWS, so I had to use the new Canon RAW converter (works OK, but although it allows for the creation of 16bit linear tiffs, there is no software plug- ins to take it the rest of the way.
2) Pekka's LS 3.42 filled up over 700MB of scratchdisk attempting to convert 1 D60 16 bit linear .tif and Win XP finally ran out of steam and stopped the conversion. (Probably just as well, I was at the 6 minute mark on my PIII 933 when it stalled).
3) Fred Miranda's LP Batch works, but gives everything an orangeish/pinkish cast (really orangey/pinky!)
Anyone have any thoughts on how to process 16bit linear tifs in PhotoShop RIGHT NOW? I know all the guys will eventually release upgrades to address this, but what to do in the meantime?
I'd prefer to get the wider gamut available through the linear conversion over the straight 16bit non-lineear conversion, if you know what I mean!
Thanks in advance...
