View Full Version : Why???

Why can't I post a reply to a topic??? I've been able to do this before!

I'm getting the following warning:

SBCmetroguy, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

EDIT: Nevermind, I guess it's because I don't have 1,000 posts though I've been a member since July (about 5 months!) I'd like to be able to post replies in the Glamour forum... I'll likely never have 1,000 posts on here!

Just a guess....

You're probably trying to post in the glamour/nude forum, and we have a requirement that members must attain a level of participation and time of membership before being allowed to do so.

Read this: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showpost.php?p=707294&postcount=1

If that's not your problem, let us know, and we'll put our thinking caps on.

Well, actually it says "If you have glamour photos to share and can not see glamour forum PM CyberDyneSystems."I don't have any photos to post in there, but I would like to reply.

Tom,

Thanks for your reply! You may not have seen when you were responding, but I edited my post to say that I've been a member for 7 months and doubt I'll ever attain 1,000 posts. That's not to say that I don't like this place, but 1,000 posts is a lot for me.

So, may I have posting access to the Glamour boards? I've been a member for over the required amount of time, and there are tons of people posting there who have WAY less than 1,000 posts.

Thanks.

No.
You obviously have not read, or do not understand, this: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showpost.php?p=707294&postcount=1

SBCmetroguy

So those of us who want to give input, can't, just because we don't have 1,000 posts, even though we've been on this board for much longer than the 3 months?

Why punish everyone for the immaturity of a few?

I'll never have 1,000 posts on here, but there are plenty of topics I'd like to respond to on that board.

In that case, I'd like to start posting photos of my glamour models.

Where did you get the 1000 post requirement?

I guess some rules are result of past experiences that if you know about them, you totally understand the ration.

Perhaps I misunderstood this, but I was using the words in bold as the basis for the "1,000 posts and 3 months."

You have been pointed toward the information that you need several times but refuse to see it. We found a need to control posting access to Glamor & Nude for the good of the forum so the minimum requirements were established. We also set up a way to get an exception to the minimum time/post rule. We see no reason at this time to set up an exception to the exception. The rules are the same for all.

I suppose you're talking about the following:

Registered members may view Glamour forum, but not post into it until they have posted at least 500 times AND have been member at least 3 months (or got permission from me).

No thanks, it sounds to me like just another way to hear a "no."

Thanks anyway, but I'm finished with this thread.

This is the the controlling info for early post in G&N.

Registered members may view Glamour forum, but not post into it until they have posted at least 500 times AND have been member at least 3 months. Members that do not meet this criteria wishing to post IMAGES for critique and input can gain early access to G&N by contacting CyberDyneSystems via PM. The process for early access may take ONE WEEK or longer to hear back from us, so please be patient. We grant this "early access" only to those with images to post. We do NOT grant early access to those looking to comment on images at this time.
This is found in it's entirety here: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=91084

Have you read the whole thread, which goes into the rationale behind the decision? Obviously not, or you would have encountered this (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showpost.php?p=717109&postcount=57).

Sounds to me like a good rule. Personally I have no interest in glamour or nudes. I can see that a lot of people would want to join a nude section in order to post porn and/or view porn as well as to make lewd comments.

My view anyway is that people look more erotic when you can't see their naughty bits and there's enough left to the imagination to tantalise.

That's kind of what I am wondering.

There are so many different personality types out there, so it's no surprise to me that I'd encounter a jerk or two... even here. Even in a position such as moderator or administrator, perhaps.

I was finished with this thread, but was somewhat surprised to see that it's continued.

I suppose my biggest problem with the whole issue here is that there are rules, and then contradictions to the rules. These contradictions, however, I didn't know existed until after I made this thread.

It is funny to me. I see these threads often, well maybe once a month, and the answer is quite simple and usually pointed out, then met with some resistance, before finally dieing a slow death. There are two outcomes, you get access or you don't. Usually the ones that are granted access have photos to share and don't complain or call anyone names. But the ones which just want to tell someone something about there photo only whine and namecall rather then just finding a work around until they have been granted access. If you want to comment on a shot send the OP a PM. It doesn't take any longer to do. The only difference is that everyone else can not read your message. However, the OP could post your comments via a quote in a reply.

Make of it what you will, but that's all I said - notice the word "perhaps." In other words, it wasn't meant to call anyone in particular a jerk, but was left open to include anyone who might be one.

Surely this comment wasn't directed at me, since I never once whined or called anyone a name. Nothing negative that I've said thusfar has been directed toward any specific person or group.

I asked a question and expected a straight-forward answer. My question, however, was met with much resistance, and for what reason I have no idea. I was just trying to understand all the dynamics involved with being allowed to post in a specific forum. Instead, I am given the runaround and told that the answer was right in front of me. Obviously, with all the contradictions, I wasn't seeing the "official" rules, so the answer could have been posted for me. I'd have accepted that and moved on. Instead, I dropped the entire issue and decided to give up on the thread. Much to my surprise, it then resurfaced.

I may not be a regular poster, but I have been a member here for a few months. I tend to enjoy many of the topics herein, and would like to contribute to the discussions of them; hence the reason for my initial inquiry.

It took all this unnecessary discussion for me to finally get a straight-forward answer; and now people want to question me because I'm fed up with it? Unreal!

The whining part is a bit harder to decifier as I am reading your thought and not hearing them. Forgive me if am wrong.

Otherwise the comment was meant for anyone and everyone to read, for fun or face value.

Well it could be said that this is all unneccesary as the rules to the G&N forum are posted as the first thread in that forum. However, since most people often don't see these threads it is good to rehash the issue every now and again. I see no reason to be "fed up with it". Days from now noone will remeber this conversation anyway.;)
