This perspective is slightly dizzying to me, what do you think, is this anything?

Its all lines converging to one point - great lesson in "one point perspective"

I like it very much

Very nice perspective. If there was ever something that needed cloning out, it would be that graffiti on the left side. A**H***

David and gsm x2, thanks! I did try a number of different angles and this was the most effective one, where the line under the windows is level.

*soapbox warning*
On the grafitti - it's all over the place, maybe we need to bring back public caning or something, I really hate the stuff. The people who do it seem to think it's some kind of art or culture expression, and there's even "intellectuals" defending it. To me it's pure vandalism of someone's property and part of why taxes and fees go up all the time.
*end soapbox*

Have you tried it monochrome and with some more contrast?

For me, as it stands it lacks a little punch. The roof is great and the perspective is appealing, but I would take a way the colours entirely and try to give it more bite.

Thanks Mark, that's a good idea! I agree it's a bit low on punch, maybe a B&W high-contrast treatment would work. I'll see what I can come up with!

I really like the shot including the graffiti! No, I won't defend it and agree it's vandalism not art (especially that bit) but it is real and your photo is the capture of a moment.... I like that the dog is turning to look at you or even, read the graffiti. The composition is strong. If I were you, I think I would go back with my camera on a fairly quiet day and wait for a couple of hours and see what turns up.

Nice work

if I may make a suggestion...
How about crop from the top to just the bottom of the windows and clone out the person on the right and the folks at the back, then render to black and white. like this:

Thanks Martin, I'm sure I'll go back (I pass this place every now and then) and hope I can get some alternate shots. I think it might be interesting to try different times of day and see what light levels and directions through the windows might do.

I really like what you've done there Unstuck. It changes the picture radically. I don't think it's necessarily better than Anders' original but it is very punchy and works for me. There's something about the life of the original that draws me in, the characters and the Grafitti give it a context and meaning that is missing from the more arcitectural shot.

This thread has been inspiring.

Thanks

I really like the B&W treatment, but not too sure about the crop. Maybe if I hadn't seen the original already - there's something missing. (Duh. :)). Interesting idea, I'll have to try some different crops. Thanks for taking the time to try it!

The original is the best. The time of day was perfect too. The light cast on the wall mimicks nicely the windows above. Shame they are over exposed...

Nice shot. Really nice.

The crop version might work flipped horizontally, but right now, it's not working for me...

The black and white version looks pretty close to what I had in mind, but I would have left the people in. Without them it seesm to lack a focus and look too symetrical. I also wonder if blurring the windows would help as the tangle of stuff outside is now a bit distracting.

I would love to show you what I mena but I have a load of projects of my own just now and I really don't have the time. Sorry but I hope that a few words at least gives the idea of what I have in mind.

One little extra thing I like in this photo is that the light from the windows on the right shines on the wall on the lower left, exactly below the windows on the left. Looks like you've picked exactly the right time for the position of the sun.
