If you want to photograph things that do not move, even low powered desktop lamps will do fine.
If the subject moves, you will need something more than desktop lamps and flash is a better approach than continuous lights.
This flash is about the least expensive approach.

jaypabie,
The Sunpak 383 that Lon steered you toward is certainly a powerful, versatile and very economical flash unit. You could make some nice portraits with it if you take the time to learn about lighting, and perhaps incorporate some low-cost such as reflectors, umbrellas, etc.
Just be aware that The 383 is not a dedicated flash unit. You can't just stick it on your camera and fire away. You will need to learn how it works and how to adjust your camera to work with the flash.
It's a learning curve worth climbing, but it will take some time.

oh ok, i'll try if i can find here at my place the Sunpak 383, thanks a lot. =) and 1 more question, sometimes when i shoot with flash(automatic mode), the result of the sharpness is good, but without flash(manual mode), the result is not that sharp even i used the tripod?
thanks!

There are many possible reasons for unsharp pictures.
In a new thread, post one of the problem images, along with all of the pertinent information on camera settings, and the camera and lens used, and folks will try to help.
