This Mockingbird was out early today and let me very close. The Downtown RT launching from the Clock Tower weather vane made my AM! The RT hunts Pigons from several tall perches. Both at iso 400 w/ 100 -400 at 400mm 30D on BushHawk - C/C Always - Bob

Very nice captures Bob. Like the composition on the RT shot especially the placement of the bird and the arrow.

Great shots Bob. I think now that the raptors are coming back from the DDT die off, we're all going to see more of these big guys in amongst people places. We just need to remember to welcome them. :)

Bob, I like both. Would liked to have seen more of the mockingbird and too bad the branch runs across the body. Excellent head shot nonetheless--especially the catch light.

BushHawk - make sure you have the front handle and a good solid mount for you lens, you will get the feel very fast and it is great for flight shots - If you have the 100-400 or smaller lens you may need the extension look on thier acc. page or send me an e-mail - I do watch out in town - it tends to freak out some folks - no joke I have taken time to show it to the cops where I shoot - out in the wood or marshes no problem. - you will lose track of your Tripod -
Dennis - I will post a FF shot of the whole bird just for you Friday!! - Thanks folks for the support - Bob

Brandon - you could make the front handle - do get the cord for the trigger - I say that at least it adds 2 stops to a non IS lens. - Bob

The close up on the Mockingbird is nice but the Red Tail has my attention for the pose, the arrow and the composition. Excellent!
