To all at this forum for providing great advice on all topics Eos-related. I had been waffling on camera choice, but ultimately opted to go with the 10D based, in no small part, on all of the information provided here. I truly appreciate having had this forum as a resource, and with my move into dSLR, I'll hope to offer some worthy contributions myself in the future. Thanks.
Btw, I should also put a plug in for www.onecall.com --if you call them directly, they are a professional and well-informed outfit. To anyone considering a similar purchase, I got the 10D, which was in stock, for $1435 (after standard "best price" and "onepass member" discounts), a couple of new lenses, and some other goodies, and did it all with a no-interest, no-payments account that'll let me spread the damage over the next year. Not bad at all.

Congratulations! :!: :!:
Do you have it yet? That really a decent price, and apparently those folks are for real. (Good rating on RellerRatings.com)
You might want to go into your original post and delete the "--if" after the link. It causes the link not to work. :(
Look forward to seeing your work.
Thos. :)

A teeeeny word of cautiion! When you find a dealer that will sell the 10D for a lower price.....check to see what shipping will be. Also see if his prices on lenses and other things like filters and flash is way above what others ask.
When you add up what everyone askd....you may have saved nothing!

I will echo the kudos for www.onecall.com expressed earlier in this thread. I've bought two expensive Canon lenses from them; on both occasions they pricematched other retailers and did not try to upsell anything. They even called a couple of weeks later to see if I was a satisfied customer.

To follow up, I'll agree that the warning about shipping charges is a good one (and sometimes even "handling" charges--which is code for "We didn't think our outrageous shipping charges were bad enough.") That said, with onecall, I had the 10D, battery grip, extra battery, two lenses, tripod, flash, and a new camera bag shipped via FedEx 3-day insured for $32.00. Seemed reasonable to me... (Did I mention they're an authorized Canon internet dealer?) Geez... sounds like they should be paying me for this. Anyway - good price, good experience, if you're in the market, I'd recommend using them. 'Nuff said.

Looks like we need to add OneCall to the list of approved camera vendors. Always nice to have more competition.
