Here is Sunny Saucedo at the Tejas Records LIVE DVD taping last Sunday. My better shots will go into the DVD cover and package.
(yes, I know the watermarks are ugly, but we covered the "whys" in a diferent post previously)

KMB.
1+4 cracking shots, not really my sort of thing but these really stand out as great pics.

Thanks. I'm rather proud of #1. Not a trivial photo to take (guess where I focused?), and the girls are positioned exactly I like - you see that both of them are laughing. As you can see from their hair, they're spinning around so correct timing was crucial.
And don't say it's not your sort of thing if you haven't seen/heard their live concert ;-)

Not last weekend, but the one before. Most recent stuff I looked at yet ;)

Quick and dirty B/W conversions:
The b&w suit these perfectly. I really 2 & 5 with the audience in the foreground. The whole set is "cool" ;)

Okay, it's noisy, and the lighting is bad, but this is a GREAT shot:

Thanks, Steve. I don't know if it's an European thing, but most of us like the noise over here (in BW pictures, if it's the "good kind" of noise) ;)
That picture is a part of a six-picture series I named (in Finnish) "Tyttöjen välisestä ystävyydestä", which roughly translates to "Concerning the friendship between girls".
...And this series is NOT for those of you who constantly use red color to write the L-letter of your Canon lenses ;). It's all about the content and the feeling. I'm sure at least René will like the series:

Sorry to rain on the parade but actually there's a constructive / analytical point worth making. For me, most of those shots would go to my reject pile for severe noise and blown contrast. The shot that is awesome to me is no. 2 - the girl with the awesome gradient and depth of colors in the pic and tone of the pic. The tone is especially something that I never get with my pics and would love to be able to replicate.
But here's to me the constructive, enlightening point. My preference is dictated towards the color saturated "vintage" / "grungy" or slick, glossy poster shot [a la Dwight McCann]. Except for no. 2, most of the shots strike me as "documentary" style ... and they are "superb" examples of a gritty documentary style.
Perhaps, some folks might remember the kid that came in and dismissed Dwight's work as basically "soulless corporate" slick brochure pieces. I bet he would love these as "true eyewitness" photography.
And though I don't love them, they do not compare to my benchmark style .... I do recognize that if documentary style is your benchmark style then these are excellent, something I could definitely see printed in a big city paper's entertainment section on the show.
So to me this is a great example of how one might think a photo is excellent but another not.
P.S. More than happy to trade you non-L lens for any L's you got ;)
P.S. I personally like rain!

I'm sure you guessed this, but the contrast is blown purposefully and the noise has been added in pp (it's film noise transferred from a scan of a picture of blue sky photographed on BW film). I'm pointing this out just to tell you that the pictures look quite exactly how I want them to look :).
Conversion to BW, adding noise and overdoing contrast are all ways of making the pictures impressionistic (IMHO). I do this because the goal of the series is to make the audience feel something, to pronounce that the visual part is really rather uniportant in itself in these pictures (meaning the pictures linked in the second post).
It is just that these pictures, I feel, have more content than what I usually produce. Just look at this picture (http://www.huumakuva.net/content/kb/tvy/slides/_MG_0314.html). Do you see just two women? I hope not... Well, I do strieve to make sure none of my pictures aren't exactly shallow, but I hope the artistic choices I made here would pronounce the things I wanted to communicate through the series.
Also, there is a certain reason why I didn't clone/crop out the microphones in this picture (http://www.huumakuva.net/content/kb/tvy/slides/_MG_0246_B.html). I'd be interested to hear if anybody has any thoughts about that.
Not sure how well I'm explaining myself here (remember that English isn't my mother thongue, and this stuff's getting heavy ;))... Anyway, for me, one of the most important things about photography is communication. I hope you (meaning anybody who viewed that series) found what I had to say with that series.
I guess you're talking about number two above rather than in the series. I'

Wait, are you talking just about the pictures explicitly linked above or also the pictures in the series I linked in my second post in this thread?
Well, anyhow, while the pictures in the series (linked in the second post) may be "documentary style", what I had in mind was artistic expression. If I had to prepare a small set of pictures to display in an art gallery, the series I linked in my second post might be it (or I might just go with the shots in my portfolio, but that would be a whole different kind of series)
something I could definitely see printed in a big city paper's entertainment section on the show.
While Jyväskylä isn't quite "big" in World scale (it is, I think, the fourth or fifth largest city in Finland), the first picture hotlinked above was printed on last monday's Jyväskylä based news magazine ("Keskisuomalainen") - the largest newspaper of this part of the country, so about 75.000 - 100.000 people have seen it (I might be off there to some direction).
But then, my intention was not to take a "newspaper picture". I wanted to take a really good concert photo that would represent the band. I'm rather happy the way that picture played out, and how it happened to complement the text.
P.S. More than happy to trade you non-L lens for any L's you got ;)
Nah, they're ok :P.
