So much for Friday the 13th being bad luck for once it was pretty good.

I attended the PMA today and I'm not sure if everyone understands what this convention is all about. It's for venders, & all of those bigwigs who makes a profit off our dreams & impulse buying.

Anyway I visited all of the big name venders & checked out whats comming out new within the next couple of months. If you're not in desperate need of anything right now WAIT. Just for a little preview of whats coming out.
Large capacity CF cards 4-8 GB and some with the write speed of 10mb per second.
8 MP point & shoot Cameras
Alot of new & upgraded software
For the paint shop pro users a new upgrade but it still won't read the RAW format & the list go's on

Now for the Canon Mark II  This is one h_ ll of a camera the pictures on the internet does not give it any justice @ all. This Camera is the sports photographers dream.
When they said it was fast you'll never imagine until you press the shutter. If you ever fired a machine gun before this is it without the recoil. Very fast on the focus points I was inside with mixed lighting and the MKII picked up quickly. There is'nt much to add on besides buying a extra battery, focusing screens & eyecup. Thats probably why there is the est. $4500.00 price tag this was all straight from the reps mouth on the price. Of course release date of April 1st. Also for anyone who might purchase one I suggest start lifting the dumbells this camera is a little on the heavy side & the lens I was using with it was only the 16-35mm.
Overall Canon has kicked Ni**n's butt  , as for me I'll stay with the 10D until I lose the hobbiest title it's no way I can justify the price after only having my 10D six months I'll keep buying more L lenses :)
Just had to pass this on to those who could not be here.

8) Cool!

Thanks for the report! :)

4 and 8 gig CF cards!

I did hear Olympus is another to join the 8MP foray!

Can't wait to ge tmy hands on a MkII... I have no way of putting one on Hold here in the biggest little State of the Union,. it seems there is not a single dealer in the State that carries either the 1D or 1Ds.. so I don't think any of them will be getting a MkII for me to reserve either... :(

Anyone know a good dealer in Mass...

The Camera did not have a eyehood on it but it did not look to different from the 10D. The Viewfinder info per the spec sheet is is 100% horizontal & Vertical @ 0.72x

Again I was trying to get a quick overview & not hog the camera people was waiting line to play :D & I was to amazed by the speed & the other features.

Hey Vegas,

Thanks for the info, I have read Sooo much about the MKII and I will be one of the first in line. And now your report just makes the wait even worse. I am going to wet my pants if they don't come to market SOON.

I am 9 kinds of green with envy!!! How much heavier is it then the 10D/Big Ed and 16-35mm F2.8L lens in the hand? Does it feel more balanced? I am really intrugued by it, but can't afford it, for now.

The 1D MKII will be about the same size and wt. as the 1D, 1DS, or the 1VHS(film body), so if you know of a shop that has any of these cameras you could probably get a good idea of weight and size by checking any of these out. They are heavier than the 10D but they do feel great in the hand, a very solid unit. In our studio we shoot the EOS 1DS and the 10D digital cameras and I would imagine that we'll have a 1D MKII as soon as they start shipping. My Boss is in Vegas right now and when he called today he said that Canon is killing (figure of speech) everyone at the show with their new cameras, especially the 1D MKII. He was a 30+year N***n shooter until last year, but with N***n staying with the APS size sensor and not bringing any new Pro digital cameras out for the past 3 years he has become more of a Canon freak than I am. I switched from N***n back in 1990.

Anyway, I'll be saving up to move into the 1D MKII sometime this year as well, but for now the 10D is doing fine.

I have'nt put big ED in my inventory yet but looking @ the spec sheets on combined wieght it totals about the same. It did feel balance, I had no problem flipping it shooting. I just was'nt used to the weight.

Cal and VP,
Thanks for the info! I have the 10D/Big Ed and 16-35mm L lens mentioned in previous post. It was more for my info. The $4500 tag on it is out of my league for now. VP, you mentioned it only had the 16-35mm F2.8 L lens. I can't even begin to imagine it with a 5 3/4 lens on it. There are myself and a few others that have some semi to monster lenses.
