JUST KIDDING!! :D
I know how much you folks hate that question. Truth is, I am a newbie, but I just finished reading this FAQ http://photonotes.org/articles/beginner-faq/lenses.html#categories
I thought other newbies might be interested in reading it too. Its very informative and quite specific. I just hope Canuck doesn't yell at me for my thread title...

Actually I have a few comments on that and I think you will like them...
I looked at it and hoped and prayed to the God I believe in and then saw the big JUST KIDDING and I laughed! :D :D
That is cool! I am glad you read it and found it informative. That is what more newbies should do. That is what I refer to as doing the homework. It makes it really hard for us to suggest stuff if you are back there like uh...what is aperature, or focal length by itself. I am not mentioning the 1.6 crop of the 10D/300D and predecessors. You get a way cool from me!
When I went to DSLR, I had 4+ yrs experience in 35mm SLR cameras (EOS 50E) so it wasn't too radical a step from 35mm SLR to DSLR. Now for those going from p&s to DSLR there is a much steeper learning curve.

Let's refer them there first before the beating you say comes then sit back and wait. In the meantime is it in the "all the best links" thread?
