This was a terrible experience. Lights were barely 'on' most of the time with the exception of dim red lights. Nightmare. These are pretty much the only ones that look alright, some are soft, I know.
Let me know what you think anyways.

Not too bad at all, make the best of a bad situation, and you did. I like #3 the best

Pretty good work considering the situation. I love hatebreed, interviewing Jamie Jasta (Hatebreed's lead singer) was one of the highlights of my college journalism career.

Not bad for what sounds like a very challenging lighting situation! #3 is good though #1 would probably be my favourite.. I don't usually go for the wide shots but somehow that one just works for me. :)

#1 is stunning ... the rest suffer from lighting! :-) I'd jack that ISO up to 1600.

#1 is pretty sweet, lots of atmosphere! I would have hit them with a little fill flash. I know Hatebreed doesn't mind a bit of flashing so long as it's not overkill.

Yeah, I like #3 too.
I envy you just for being there to see it, not to mention being able to photograph the show too.

#1 rocks for sure. Good job

A job well done - which lenses were you using and what camera (in particular ISO) settings? From the look of the lighting you should have had no trouble jacking up the ISO to 1600 or 3200.

The people I shoot for freak out at most any hint of noise, and I don't have very good luck with my 30D above ISO 1000 in that department. Had it been for myself I'd have it up to at least 1600. I was also down a lens that I just sold (24-70L) and my new 17-55 2.8 hadn't shown up yet. So all the shots were taken with a 50 1.4 or a Sigma 15mm fisheye, except #1 was taken on the trusty 70-200...
Thanks for the comments.

Sounds strange - who do you shoot for? Have you tried using any noise reduction software at higher ISO?

Wow! I love the last Killswitch one :)

I like the first two.
On the ISO: Use ISO 1600 or 3200, and NR software if you have to. 'Educate' your client first though ;)

the 1st pic is the best by far (strange, though, how many audience members have their heads turned to the right of the photo...was something going on?).
the 30D is very capable camera @ ISO 1600. not sure what noise issues yr editor/art director is worrying about. seems crazy.
that said, some of yr photos look a bit dark (for instance, 2 and 7); using spot metering on the player's face might have helped matters.
the guy in #4 looks funny, almost like a plastic mannequin.

Nice - I like 1 & 2 the most. The color seems a little bit off. Did you not convert them to sRGB before going to .jpg?
