I just shot a bunch of pics on my 20D in RAW format. Now I can't get them to my computer. I can view them on camera. What am I doing wrong?
I'm using PS Elements 5.0 and I also have Digital Photo Professional but can't seem to get the RAW files on either.
I'm going to go pull some hair out and hope someone has a solution for me.
Thanks.

Never mind this question. I'm an idiot. I tried to open the images with everything except... d'uh... the EOS Utility Viewer. it all seems to be working fine now.

Chuck, A word of advice. Buy yourself a compactflash card reader. I allows you to import images into your computer dramatically faster than you can thru the camera. You'll be much happier if you do.
Just my $0.02 worth

Agreed,
Card Reader is the best way to go,
Plus you can transfer images to other computers that don't have the Canon software installed on them, and transfer files, mp3s, etc.

sorry to but in...is that why it takes ages to download from the camera to the computer? So is it best to get a card reader and does it matter which one??

All depends on a couple factors: Camera's USB speed (Rebel XT uses USB 2.0), and if you computer uses USB 1.1 or 2.0.
Even with USB 2.0 I think it takes about 10-15 minutes to empty a 1GB card.
Some are also leary of plugging anything electrical into a camera for fear of spikes, etc, others don't want to worry about battery giving out during transfer. Still others like using card reader to empty card, while they stick a fresh one in and keep shooting! See my post above for a few other benefits.
I like the fact, also, that card reader is small and I don't have to keep pulling out, and wrapping up that camera usb cable each time I use it.
