Hi, I'm thinking about buying a Digital Rebel and I'm wondering if the lenses from my old film SLR (EOS Elan) will be compatible.

I have three lenses; an Ultrasonic EF 35-105 mm f/4.5-5.6 zoom, an Ultrasonic 75-300 mm f/4-5.6 zoom, and an EF 24 mm f/2.8 wide-angle.

I really don't use my film camera much anymore and if these lenses are compatible with the Digital Rebel, then it may help me make a decision on whether to buy or not.

Also, if the lenses are compatible, will all of them work well with the D-Rebel, or will I run into limitations that may make me want to purchase additional lenses?

Thanks!

Yes all three lenses will work on a DR.
You may get bitten by the upgrade bug if you tread the disgital path though - so be warned.
Go for it. Happy shooting and learning.

Thanks, Paul. I already own an S45 and my wife an S400, and yes the digital world is very addicting indeed.

Before anyone chastizes me for not using the search engine, I've tried and for some reason my computer screen locks up and then I have to restart my browser to get back each time...

Probably the only limitation will be a loose of the wideangle end (and a gain the tele one) because the 1.6x crop factor. Your 24/2.8 will become a 38/2.8, hardly a true wideangle lens.
Of course if you buy the Drebel kit, the included 18-55 lens will solve in part the wideangle loss, reaching only a 28-29mm equivalence, at only at f/3.5 but it´s still much better than the 38 figure.
