I was pretty glad to get these, somewhat out in the open in an urban setting. Usually they are deep in the thickets.

Wow! Great shots. The colors are outstanding. I'm very jealous that you found cardinals in trees. Around here I see them mostly on the ground.

Are these sharpened? Did you use the 100-400?

Sharpened up a tad in PP as I always do as the images have no sharpening out of the camera.

They were with the 100-400, EXIF is intact if you want to take a look.

Nice shots, I have yet to get a decent capture of one. (OK, not here, but I am going to Kansas in a few days.)
