help with photoshop elements

I just purchased ps elements 2, and was wondering if there was a way to adjust or bring out color in a limited portion of the picture. I have used layer masks in the past on my friends copy of photoshop 7, but im having trouble getting the same type of effect in elements, since i always get a ugly line that gives away the section of the image that has been adjusted...any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried putting a lasso around the area you want to work on and feathering the border 75px.?

PS Elements doesn't support layer masks. You can try using the lasso or magic want tools to select an area, and the feather will soften the edges (like blurring a mask).
