I've been shooting portraits with a 550EX off-camera on a stand w/umbrella, a 420EX on a stand w/umbrella for backlight, and a 420EX on a stand into a reflector for fill. All speedlites controlled by an on-camera ST-E2.
Instead, I'm thinking maybe I should have the 550EX (slaved using manual overide) for the backlight (no pre-flash this way) and the 420s as key and fill and then play with the distance from the subject with each of these light sources.
I'd be interested in anyone's suggestions for the best 3-point setup with this equipment.
