Hi,
I am of to the NEC in the uk on 23/02/04 to Focus. Does anyone know
if Canon will be taking the new mkII 1D and if it takes the compact
flash cards like the 10D as I wish to try it out with my own card to see
how good it is.
Thanks
Mark

It will use the same CF cards. But, there is not a Canon rep on the planet that will let you insert a CF into one. People tried it at PMA and promptly had the camera snatched from their hands.

Camera will certainly be there, Canon reps are even now doing the rounds of Canon UK official dealers. They were in Park Cameras last week with it.
You never know, ask the man nicely, he may let you slip one in

I wonder why they won't let you try ?

Canon like any other company releasing a new product, wants to control the story. If they let you take a picture home, they would lose that control. You could post that image in less then perfect quality all over the Internet. Canon would then have to deal with that. They would prefer to only have pristine images out there to prove how wonderful the new camera is.

Because the firmware is not 100% yet and they don't want any photos but their own control photos out there. Common practice with pre-release hardware.
It is not some cooked-up Canon conspiracy either. All companies do this.
