I finally got some time this morning to get back into my drop shots. After a frosty night and some morning sun, some lovely drops were begging to have their pics taken.

Hope you like them, here are 3 of my favs from this morning :)

Thanks Brian - its nice to have a moment to get back into some macro shots :)

Very nice! What lens?

Thanks Julian - the lense is the Canon 60mm macro :) . I also have the Canon 100mm macro but I am one of the few people that actually prefer the 60mm, I seem to work quite well with it - could be because its slightly lighter, especially when the flash is attached. I can highly recommend it :)

Nicely done Linda. The reflecting images in the water droplet in the third shot is well captured.

Very nice shots, especially the last one! Are any of the images stacked? They are so well focused that i had to ask..

Hi there

No, I have never done stacking it sounds too complicated
In fact all of these shots, and all of the photos that I take, have very little post processing.

Literally all I do once I have downloaded the photos is crop any unncecessary outer edges if I need to, but certainly not all shots, I sometimes adjust brightness and contrast only if I need to and then do one basic sharpen on them.

Its a testament really on how good the lenses are and I just try my best to get a decent shot.

Its great to ask all these questions as it helps people new to macro get a feel for how people achieve their particular style.

It may sound that way, but it is the complete opposite! Go and download CombineZ5, its free and is pretty impressive.. very simple to use, just a matter of shooting multiple images at slightly different focus and loading into the program. From the looks of things though, you are doing so well with the macro focus that you probably dont need to use the program.

Oh thanks for that, I might take a look at the program at some point just to have a play (when I get time lol).

That is a great compliment you have paid me about the focus and I thank you very much, it does help to give me a bit more confidence that I am actually doing ok with this type of shot as there are some great drop shooters around and I am always trying to get somewhere near what they achieve. I really appreciate your comment :)
