I did a demo like this a couple of years back to show the advantage of using a polarizing filter when taking photographs of static cars. I thought I would do a quick repeat of the demo using my own car (Subaru STi with 300bhp by the way) and I am sure you can easily see the difference.

Taken with a 1D and an 85mm 1.8 at F8

As you can tell, with a polarizer the lines of the hood are more clearly defined with reduced reflections and the ability to 'see through' the car adds depth and interest.

Is it the filter or the lense that puts the steering wheel on the right side?

You'll get no argument from me on the virtues of using a polarizer. I try to use one for most shots. It's surprising how much they can improve most images, even discounting the darkened sky (which I don't always want).

You know it is amazing how frequently I forget that polarizing lenses work wonders with glass. Just the other day I tried to get a picture of an amusing sign through a shop window. Looked good on the tiny LCD. Got it home... glare everywhere. (fudge)

Thank you for sharing this little test. Carpinteria has a neato little car show every summer. I got some nice pics last year with my lil P&S Fuji. This year it'll be thoroughly killer, especially if I can remember to use my polarizer.
