This is my first post on this site. This is my favorite pic from this session but it doesn't look quite right to me....maybe too flat?

not bad. I agree, looks a little flat. I like the pose. She could look a little more relaxed and not facing the camera straight-on. Her hair especially, blends into the dark background. the 2 in the back also look soft to me; maybe a result of sizing for the web? Oh, and welcome to POTN! Keep shooting & posting! This is a good place to learn.

Perhaps a bit more contrast between the background and your subjects?

This is a cute shot, but unless my monitor has serious color problemes tonight, I see a very strong magenta cast to it. Here's my adjustment on it for you... Let me know if I am having color problems or if this looks good to you. :)

you should've used some additional lighting for adding hairlight. then i'd say they look a little underexposed. other than that (concerning poses etc.) it's okay!

Thanks for all the comments and edits.....Valerism I love the 2nd edit that you posted. I don't do much portrait photography but a friend from work wanted some Christmas pics and with the holiday so close I wanted to try and help her so she would have them back by Christmas for family gifts. Overall she was really pleased and paid next to nothing since I'm not a pro or anything. I need to learn how to use my lights and I just got a 580ex for my b-day so I'm still new to all this. Thanks again everyone!

Yes, although I don't have an edit to offer since so many here already did, I the first thing that crossed my mind was a definite magenta/red cast to it. All very helpful edits, but I think that, to my eyes, I find what Kristy did to correct the problem, is the most pleasing, and the ones from valerism, but they all give a fine idea.
The color cast aside, I think that this is a a really nice shot. Good subjects and poses!

Good pose and framing. The image looks to need some snap which has been given by several of the edits. Nice job.

Valerism I love the 2nd edit that you posted.
Thank ye... I edited my edit though... first it was too magenta... then I made it too green but I was tired and too lazy to fix it better last night...
Hope you like it as much, if not better! :)

I havent read all the commets, so forgive me if i am repeating something, but i think the reason it looks slightly off is due to the colors. The black and white clothing and the black BKG clash(is this the word i am looking for?) with eachother! i think the overall image is a bit flat, and a hair light was needed, but the pose and composition are great!
nice work! welcome to POTN, make yourself at home!
