Croft is 6hrs 23mins drive from my starting point. At the end of the event I'll have another 4hrs 40mins to get home... It is looking just a little ambitious....

That means you'd have to set off at around 0230hrs to get there in time for car 1 entering stage 1.

More than a little ambitious I'd have said Glenn. Shame that, and good though the rally will be, I don't think that it's worth 11 hours in the car, no matter how bad the motorsport withdrawl symptons are!

Cheers,

Simon.

I'll be there, wrapped up warm it should be a cracking event with some great enteries including Tony Bardy, Ryan Champion, Dave Bellerby and can't wait to see young Mr Bogie out in his dad's 6R4 again. Andy Fenwick will have Tyne Tees reporter Andy Kerr alongside him for the event in his immaculate Astra kit car so everybody on their best behaviour as you might be on the tele'.
If you're quick and click this link, it's the segment from last night's report on the Tyne Tees news
mms://webcast.globalfibre.tv/tttv/net_north.wmv
fast forward in to 20 mins

(They may change the film after tonights programme and I don't know how to save the file to my computer)

Oh and they get the name of the rally wrong in the report, they call it the winter stages when we all know it's the Specsavers Christmas Stages Rally

Hope to see you all there.

Cheers
Ian

Alan,

It's this Saturday (30th) at Croft. Admission is £8 and i suspect most of us will be there at around 9am. (no laughing at my famous inability to get out of bed...)

Stage 1 kicks off at approximately 0915 :)

Righto, I've got permission from she who must be obayed to go to Croft on Saturday, will try and be there for 9am ish, will throw whatever I think I could need in the car ( will borrow the wifes 300D too so I'll have 2 bodies, and hopefully might see some of you guys there, do I just go to the circuit ?, if so any suggestions on best places to shoot from, or if it's not at the circuit where do I go !.

Any suggestions on what lenses to use was thinking my 70-200 on the 350D and maybe the 17-40 on the 300D, or is this too wide ? I could put the sigma 18-200 on this, would that be better ?.

Quite looking forward to this now hope the weather is kind to us.

Alan

I'd stick with the Canons if i were you. As much as i like Sigma lenses i don't think the 18-200 will be suited to this sort of thing :)

Just head for the circuit as per a normal event, drive in and they'll show you where to park. You just pay at the hut at the end of the access road.
I've got a POTN strap on the 20D if it helps with I.D. and blue & yellow tape on the monopod if i'm using it.
