Hello!

Here are a collection of variations of one image that I took recently at a small carol concert. This guy held my interest as he seemed to go entirely against what my mind stereotypes as the sort of person who'd be in a brass band; he was young, very tall, had highlighted hair, and smoked, yet he wore the same uniform.

Colour (http://middledistance.net/photos/brass-band-rebel-clr.jpg)
Black & White (http://middledistance.net/photos/brass-band-rebel-bw.jpg)
Selective Colouring #1 (http://middledistance.net/photos/brass-band-rebel-sc.jpg)
Selective Colouring #2 (http://middledistance.net/photos/brass-band-rebel3-tom.jpg)

This was one of the odd occasions I shot in RAW (as I knew the lighting would be bad; the original photos from which these images are derived had horrible contrast!), so I upped the contrast and temperature slightly, then cut the background (most of which was already black from the increase in contrast) and re-cropped & re-sized it.

Some cloning work was done on his uniform (there was an area between his collar and right shoulder that looked as if it had been chopped off) and his right collar with the ciggarette.

The grain wasn't intentional, but I love the way it looks! This was down to shooting in ISO 800 (it may have been ISO 1600 - I can't remember!).

I'd really love some feedback, please, guys. It's so useful to hear and occasionally makes my day. :)

Cheers!
