1, 3, 5, 6, and 8 are brilliant, again very crisp and framing. on number 7 its a bit blown out on his head, which is a bit of a shame, but overall looks like the lighting was good for you.
Number 3 is my fav out of the set, i think its a crackin shot.

Can't beat if for personal use...well done within the situation!
Thanks for bringing back some memories!
(he says, at the ripe old age of 44....)
Bowser's touring on his own from what I've read....
Probably another infamous "falling out" of some kind...

Hi James,
Thanks for the great feedback...your picks give me a chance to ponder my choices some more...I had a tough time choosing photos....all were taken with the same 85mm lens from my seat on the far right side of the stage...
I wondered about number 7 and it's not always us...or even the camera's fault...Although this was an "across the stage shot,"I enlarged this image and here is the face...It appears to be the down sizing from the originals to the 800 x 800 size for posting here...
This trim of the trim is 729x800, and the face details are much better...What do you think?

I think screamin scott is the only original from the original Sha Na Na show. I loved that show as a kid. Bowser and Lenny the big guy were my favorites! Oh, and Santini.

OOhhh im not sure which i prefer, i think the uncrop is probably a bit better for me as there is someone else in the shot, but i like the crop, tho only thing is is i would brush the Mic out as i dunno y but it annoys me when there is a mic just poking in from side and you cant see all of it, does that make sence?

I also dislike that mike...This was supposed to be just an example of the contrast and lighting...However, you just don't know who will be looking...therefore the picture and the artist must always be portrayed in the "best of light."
consider it as an example of the possibility of distortion when posting in low resolution...frankly, most photos look lousy in low resolution...thank goodness for digital...
I, too prefer the photo with the others in the band...here is another of same...

Much prefer that photo now, its a good shot, good quality, i cant see much noise, framing is almost spot on apart from cutting the mic wire out, never mind, ad this one to my original list of favs :)

James....
Sounds good so far...Now for the mike wire...I cropped it out from the original...This way the photo downloads faster...It also concentrates the image more on the performers...
Why, James? Is the photo with the mike more complete, if I leave the wire in place?
I'd have to go back to the very original photo...for future use elsewhere, should I leave the wire in? I'll be printing these photos, and matting and framing them...

Murphman, it's a good thing that you still remember Bowser...you know how the industry is...txduggan has the answer...

That's good news about Bowser, that he is still performing...I'm sure the audience and band members miss him...

I reviewed the show program and their web site to find that:
"Jocko" Marcellino, with his BA from Columbia University, and a Masters in Drama from New York University, co-founded the original band with Screamin' Scott... :D
Also, from the same early years and a BS from Columbia University is "Donny" York... :D
It took me some time to research their web site to find this info, so here is the posting (better late than not at all) right?...

I have come to accept that it takes HUGE ego in addition to talent to be a success in this business, sigh. Very nice shots John although a tad soft ... maybe try Rene's sharpening suggestions.

#1 and #3 are excellent, well done (esp getting all the fingers in #1). #2 is a bit too red/magenta for me; i'd b&w it myself. i like #7 too, but as james has said i'd clone out the mic and wire.

We have learned to deal with ego...and have own reasons for occasionally, accepting it...though, too much of it does rub in, and possibly has potential to be, in the wrong way...big ego is so cliché, you can usually see right through it...
The softness is definitely the result of slight hand shake...also, these very long cross stage shots, cropping and enlarging...and the less than "L" lens quality...I do drink at least three, tall 20 oz. coffee's before and during the show...I guess, I'm not a night person anymore...
I'm waiting for software to arrive, specifically for post processing... and right now, will immediately go to Rene's link again, regarding his sharpness tool recommendation...I have nothing to lose and everything to gain by doing so...

Thanks for the feedback Narlus...I need your observations to get the additional perspective...this information is very helpfull...I wouldn't know enough to work around the mike and mike wires...If it would be traditional to keep them in, for a more complete image...that's one thing...I'd rather keep them out...With time, the entertainment industry will probably do away with them all together anyway...why put off the inevitable...
Keeping the fingers in the picture was a blessing...cause I have several with the incomplete extremities at picture's edge....i guess that's where the zooms come in...
The B&W is a great idea for the second picture...i couldn't do away with the "pink skin" enough cause the shirt is also pink...At this time my PP software is still very limited in features...
