This is one of my earlier shots. I actually took this picture on my first time out with my 30D, so bare with me. I just came back to it, and edited it a little with CS2. Nothing major, but slight changes I thought could help.

was this shot in raw or jpeg, cos the sky is quite blown out, and it would be a very nice shot otherwise. have you already tried to recover some of the sky?

Yes, and thats the sad part. I mean, it was my first time out with my camera and lens at the end of october. I chose to use the hood instead of my CPL. Next time it's a whole new ball game as i am learning how to use everything ALOT better.

sure, but anyway, you can always photoshop in a sky from elsewhere, i think if done well it would really make the photo work:).

I like it - however I'd try to make it a little more tense with the editing - such as adding some noise/grain and darkening the corners to bring the focus away from the edges (my eye seems to wander around) - you might try blurring the stands and stuff a little more. also the sky has some serious banding issues - it might be my monitor (at work) but I would just do a simple wash in the sky to again bring focus back to the car...

since your profile says image editing ok i did an edit, i took a sky from elsewhere and put it in. i delibately made it brighter than you'd expect as it looks more realistic.

Thanks man! It definitely looks good. I am going to get myself a really good CPL for the track and see how it works out for me.

What would you guys suggest on a bright day? hood or circular polarizer? Assuming you could only choose one.

Thanks man! It definitely looks good. I am going to get myself a really good CPL for the track and see how it works out for me.

I recommend getting a circular polarizer and an ND grad of some sort :D that way you can get the best skies into your pictures.

How many stops? 1-stop filter? 2-stop filter?

id say ND8 personally, as for skies like these, the diff in brightness is gonna be quite large

In this case, a graduated ND filter would probably be best. That or maybe a graduated blue tint filter. If you've ever watched "Top Gear", most of their awesome shots are done with such filters and definitely add to the mood.

It's not my car, it's my buddy's car. Yes, i have seen him at the track. I see him at most of the NHRA events, and i believe some NOPI.
