I am looking to replace 2 lenses that were not working out well with my 10D, my 100 f/2.0 usm and my 50 f/1.8. The 100 seemed to be too long with the 10D and the 50 1.8 seemed to be a cheap feeling lens, I cant say I didn’t like it but was offered more than I paid for it and was considering the 50 usm lens anyways so I sold it.

I need to keep it around $400.00 so the L lens lovers have to suggest something besides an L lens. This lens needs to be a multi purpose lens but also give me sharp portraits. I have the 70-200 f/4.0 L so I have that range covered.

Here are the ones I am looking at but please if you know one that is better please let me know. All suggestions will be very helpful.

Sigma 24-135 2.8-3.5 Aspherical
Canon 24-85 3.5-4.5 USM
Sigma 28-70 2.8 EX Aspherical
Sigma 24-70 2.8 EX Aspherical
Canon 50 1.4 USM
Canon 28-135 3.5-5.6 IS

Well the next step up in 50's is the 50mm f/1.4

and if you want another fast prime but think 100mm is to long..

...the 85mm f/1.8 is another super lens. I think about $250.00 or $300.00 if I remeber correctly.

I bought the Canon 24-85 usm. It is not very popular but I love it!!
See the results. My first shot! Not a (L) but I like it.
