Thanks for the link, Crypto. Looks like this one is for real unlike the last one where they erroneously sent out messages saying there was an update but there really wasn't.

Welcome. I kept getting that darn thing too.

Thank you Crypto. It Worked like a charm. A major upgrade that just would not update from PSPXI program itself

I upgraded and now can't open Paint Shop Pro's native format *.pspimage or *.psp that I have saved with this release. The program crashes with an error message or just closes out completely. I need .pspimage to save layers.

I don't have a problem with it. Try to reinstall. How are you trying to open them (drag n drop, click file to launch PSP)? Maybe you need to re-establish the program to "open with" for the file extension.

I tried re-installing the patch, didn't help. I downloaded it again, but the files compare 100% so it wasn't a bad download. The file association isn't the problem as I've tried each method to open the file. I get a script error when saving the .pspimage file before it crashes. I guess I'll try re-installing the original program from the CD.

Edit: Reinstalling XI didn't help, had to uninstall then re-install. Now back to original release and files are opening and saving okay. I will retry the patch after the holidays.

I'm confused, you're getting an error when you try to save or when you try to open?

I was able to open a previously saved .pspimage or .psp file that was created before the patch. But once saving a new file or resaving an old file to .pspimage or .psp I would receive a script error (undefined) and the program would shut down. Subsequently trying to open the same file after restarting PSP the program would crash. I can open it now after reinstalling 11.00. I can't test anymore now until I reapply the patch, but I have too much work to get done before I can try it again (senior photos, game photos...).

Tried installing patch again, same results. I'll be sticking with 11.00 for now.

Anybody using Paint Shop Pro XI in addition to Adobe Photoshop? Bestbuy has PSP XI for 39.99. I'm just getting started back with photography and with Post Processing & the price seems inviting.

Still a bit slow on the camera RAW support. Lets hope they don't start working on a new version of PSP, and drop the raw updates like they have for version X.

I for one, will never buy their products again. ;)

I just wanted to report that I have found a pretty big problem with this update. I would think its just me, but I have it installed on three PC's and all did the same thing. The only way I could fix the problem was roll back to version 11.
The problem, When you save an image as a TIFF, there is a black line at the edge of the saved image. It almost looks as if the image has shifted on the canvas. Doesn't seem to do it for several of the other formats.

If anyone has this problem, or doesn't, it would be nice to hear about it.

thanks

I've got PS 7 and PS Elements 3, but prefer Paint Shop Pro. It's easier for *me* to figure out how to do things in PSP.

Many problems with PSPXI and its patch, which really disappoints. I love PSP Just FYI, I found this info in Corel newsgroups about PSPXI, for anyone who has the problems involved with crashing and errors. Mine is so slow and crashes so I have reverted back to PSP9. I'm going to try this. I had read somewhere it is a cache problems...

As a follow up, here is a reply received from Corel Tech Support regarding
the C++ Runtime error listed below; it may be useful to those experiencing
this and related C++ errors. The steps noted did eliminate the error --
overall, however, I have found the program to be unstable, crashing numerous
times as it tried to rebuild the Organizer files. The reply notes an upcomng
update -- perhaps that will make the program more usable; in the meantime, I
have reinstalled PSP X and will use it primarily.

Reply from Corel Tech support:

We have determined the cause of the Runtime errors.

This error appears to be triggered by a problem with Paint Shop Pro's
Organizer reading IPTC data in specific file(s). It is not clear what
specific file(s) is causing the trouble on your given computer. With that
said, there are a couple things to do that should address this error.

On our end, we expect to have this behavior corrected in an update patch
(hopefully to be released in the very near future...I do not have specifics
on what exact date. Periodically check under Help | Check for Updates within
Paint Shop Pro to check for any available updates to the program).

On your end, there are two possible workarounds.

1. If this error happened after updating to 11.11, one option is to use the
11.00 version (without the patch) until our next update is available. or

2. Isolate the possible offending file(s). Essentially it should just be
related to .pspimage files that contain IPTC data, so ideally just isolating
any .pspimage files will allow the program to run properly. Here is how you
can isolate the files from the Paint Shop Pro Organizer.

First close any programs that are running.

Do the following to delete the Paint Shop Pro Photo XI Database files.

1. Go to Start | Run, Type %appdata% and click Ok.

2. Double-click on the Corel folder.

3. Delete the following files

ImageDB.db

LastDBFilter.PspCache

LastDBTreeSel.PspCache

thumbnails.db

Manually move the offending files from My Pictures and My Shared pictures to
a new temporary location. By default, the Paint Shop Pro Photo XI Organizer
will look at all files in My Pictures and My Shared Pictures folders (and
any subfolders contained within). It is critical to move any .pspimage files
from these locations to a different location. For example, we recommend
creating a new folder in My Documents for holding the moved files.

Once you have moved all .pspimage files from the previous location to the
newly created folder, try launching Paint Shop Pro Photo XI.

The program should launch correctly.

NOTE: it is critical NOT to use the Paint Shop Pro Photo XI Organizer to
browse to the location where you moved the .pspimage files as this would
likely generate the Runtime error again.

Unfortuante to hear that... I've been tempted to try out PSP... (Don't want to give Adobe ALL my money!) :)

Hope they get that worked out.

I have discovered that if you want to run PSPXI with no problems don;t use the organizer at all. Go under preferences, organizer, EXCLUDE ALL FILE FORMATS.

After three days, many uninstall, re install, update, re-update and three unanswered emails I finally uninstalled Paint Shop Pro XI for the last time.

I upgraded my computer to a system running Vista and reinstalled it with no problem. However the Vista upgrade which included the RAW update for my camera would not unpack and install no matter what I did. I can download a trial version and it works fine, but I cannot upgrade my existing version. My emails to Corel don't get answered. That's it, bye bye. It's a damn shame because I liked the product but what the heck, you buy cheap you get cheap.

It is a shame, tafkas, I am discouraged too. I really don't have the hours to make this right. I have gone back to my PSP 8 and 9. Very disappointed, that Corel is pretty much ignoring the known issue.

I liked the product too and sure wish I could just move the new photo tool additions to my PSP9 and be done with it. I find it hard to believe that Corel wouldn't feel the pinch of PS3, and make some effort to keep their customers. I was a great promoter of PSP. But not now. It's just not right, and it seems Corel may not be interested, possibly because they are working on a "Corel" named, new program that costs more and competes with PS3. Money talks. But they have lost alot of their loyals.

I have always proclaimed I did not need PS because PSP was so much better. But Corel dropped the ball. So I may move on. For now I use my favorite stand-by, PSP9.

Does anyone know if one can drop just a few effects into PSP9 and use them? Too good to be true, I know.... but it would be nice if they broke it up like plug-ins and let us choose which we needed. I'd be thrilled.
