I don't like the halo around the cat. The backround is nice. The cat need to be lighten a little.

I never saw a bad cat picture but I agree it needs to be lightened a little. The halo doesn't bother me, just looks like a bright back light.

As for the halo, it's a nice effect, maybe useful in other situations, but I don't really like it that much in this shot, maybe because the background is vivid enough for the halo not to cause so much impact. Also, the halo adds a slight blue contour to the cat's back, which turns out a bit odd - or maybe it's just my eyes? :) It's a good shot, really, but the halo doesn't work for me there.

About the shot, i know its flaws. I mean, i didnt have a strong enough fill flash to lighten the subject and needed to get closer which i couldnt be bothered to cause i was in bed. Beyond that, i shot it in ISO 200 because i had been taking some moon shots and completely forgot to set it to 50 again. ISO 200 makes it very hard to brighten the shot.
I just thought that it was an interesting effect and interesting colors and was wondering if it was interesting at all.
Oh well, here is the original shot brightened a little full of G5's wonderfull purple fringing. :)

Warman,

The effect is interesting, and somewhat humorous. However, I don't like it, and with the accident of having the camera at ISO 200, why did you brighten the original? You should have needed to darken it if anything. Was the cat too dark? Try using the dodge or burn tool to lighten and darken your photos in PS. This is a dark room technique that really helps with over exposure and under exposure in areas of the frame (use it like a paint brush) vs. lightening or darkening the entire frame.

The original was extremely dark and i started playing it and ended up creating the halo effect which i found very funny and was wondering if there was anything there at all. Thus the thread! :)
The cat was indeed too dark and what you see now is the result of some saturation and contrast manipulations to bring him out. I will try doing as you sugested (i'm very lame in PS) and if i come up with anything interesting ill post it here.
