A few hours ago, I finally received the Nifty fifty and Tokina 100mm Macro!:D
Have I not been looking forward to this! But the damn camera body (EOS 400D) hasn't arrived yet, and probably won't until next week! So I'm sitting here with two lenses and can't use them! It's making me nuts lol!;) Anyway, inital impressions are good, I opened the Tokina first, and was AMAZED by the build quality, it's like a tank or something! And when I opened nifty, I was amazed by how good images I've seen from it, this thing really is "plastic fantastic"... Feels like a toy...
Still waiting for Tammy 28-75, which prolly will arrive together with the camera next week. Oh, the wait...

I'm patiently waiting on a 100mm f/2.8 macro, which ups says is out for delivery. Hurrrrryyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!
Happy Holidays,

I feel your pain...I am sitting here waiting for my Nifty and a Canon 2X to show up today.
I used to work as a preloader at UPS and know the drivers that take care of my route.
We are getting hammered with rain today so i think I might be taking shots of droplets on our plants out back if it stops. It's not supposed to stop raining for the next 3 days here. So I might be taking flood shots of cows going by....

That's terrible, but I've been there.. Just do what I do.. take the caps off, put the back side of the lens up to your eye, and then run around yelling "FLASH, SNAP! FLASH, SNAP!" or if you're using the 1.8 "SNAP! SNAP SNAP!"
:D

Pain here too. I bought a 30D, 100-400 IS and also got some extention tubes for close work. At the same time, I lent my Digital Rebel to a friend who was going to Europe. The lenses and extensin tubes are here a few days. UPS notified me they will be delivering today - but I can only hang around the house until about 1:30 pm - and I am out all of tomorrow. So I sit here - and run to the window with each passing truck. Just like a kid waiting for morning so he can go downstairs to the tree on Christmas day.

Congrats on your new lenses. Great choices, I own both. Isn't it a wierd feeling to handle the Nifty Fifty after holding the Tokina?! It feels like a toy, but it works beautifully :)

Hi BrewsterPilot,
I feel for you, thats like delivering a pudding without bringing anything to eat it with. I recently had to wait for a camera to come back from Australia, it took four months for the modifications to be completed.... Dont worry it will be worth it once it arrives, fingers crossed that its soon.
Best regards

Yep! I sure am impressed by what it produces.
By the way, since you're the Pro of using the Tokina 100mm Macro here @ POTN, (still cleaning my keyboard from drool after I watched your galleries lol) care to give some tips & tricks for a n00b just having received the lens?
Thanks!:)
