This is a relatively small club in SF with 4 stage lights that night. Flipper was one of my favorite bands in high school, so this was a trip for me. Krist Novoselic, formerly of Nirvana, was on bass for this set. First night out with my 2nd copy of the 35/1.4. Still going through my first pass, but picked a few out. My camera seems noisier than it should be too.

#1 and 2 are nice. What noise?

yeah, 1 and 2 are very nice and crisp. i don't see any noise either. good shots.

i'd have B&W converted at least one, but that's a personal preference.

I think #2 is way, way, cool...great depth, and composition...

Wow, didnt know they were still around considering all the drugs they used to do...

I used to listen to them back in high school, but I could only listen to them in real small doses. Loved the HaHaHa song though.

Is that Novoselic in the last pic? Man, he's looking rough...

Good shots though.

I may have cleaned these up a touch more than usual in C1. However, I'm bothered by the level in the guitarist on #2 (he's a noisy guy, but ha).

Yes, that is Novoselic in #3. All of the shots I made of him were very similar because it was so packed. I think the DoF masks how close that headstock was to my forehead and lens ;) All were very minimal cropping.

Dude, you are so lucky to have caught that show. Nothing great like that happens in Ohio. Oh, an man did Krist get fat or what?

How do you like that lens? It has been on my wish list for a year but since most places I shoot so far have good light I haven't gone there. However, my son is starting to shoot small events/clubs and I may try to shoot occasionally with him and need something smaller and quicker than my 85mm f/1.2.

If you Post Processed # 2 further, it does look even better the second time around...I really, really like the depth of field and the gradual bokeh developing just perfectly...the ruby red color doesn't bother me either...

I'm stuck on only getting "L" lenses from now on...I'd get the 50mm 1.2L lens, Dwight...plus the 35 and 24 "L"s (if they aren't in your inventory yet)...I can't see settling for anything less...Your son will need it eventually, anyway...

I have essentially L glass but at the other end! :-) I have all those lenses on my wish list. :-)

This end of the "L"'s should be easier to acquire...simply by virtue of price...
It's a budget or cash flow call for me...at this time...I'm determined to let my local venue know that I would need a ten year contract to make a commitment, and step out of retirement...with out a guarantee up front in the form of a cash advance/deposit just won't cut it for me...

I think it's "OK". It does what it's supposed. I sold my first copy as I didn't like what CFSC did to it, and tried out a number of copies before settling on my second one. I wish it's AF was snappier, but it seems to do quite well. This particular copy has pretty good contrast to it too. The other lenses in my concert kit are the 85/1.8 and 135/2.0 which make it feel a little doggy in comparison.

I've my eye on the 24, 34, 50 and 135mm since I have the other end and lots of zooms ... but the zooms just aren't as punchy as the primes usually. I may have to setup a separate case for the small fast glass and just bring it along for low light situations. Thanks for the feedback.

Hey Brother D! I haven't thought about Flipper in a looong time. I can remember playing "Sex bomb" over and over as a teen. A "45" no less...(I think I even still have it) Many in this forum are probably to young to know what a "45" is.

I am also contemplating the 35L and am anxious to see more from you. I reallly like the DOF in the 3rd pic.

Patrick, I haven't heard anyone mention 45's for years! I still remember those adapters that went over the 33 changer spindles so you could stack a few up. Those were the days, eh? :-)

It will be a while before I get the 35 I think. I want to get into some portrait and glamor and expect the 50 and 135 will come first.

If those are boxes of albums, than you certainly have a 1/2 ton of them...

mine seemed to disappear over the years...

The 35L, 85/1.8 and the 135L are going to keep me with a crop sensor for a while. They do what they do so well. I thought about a 5D, but I'd need the equivalent of the 135mm x1.6 and the 200mm L isn't fast enough. The 135L is so much fun. You never hear anything bad about that lens, which is rare.

I'm "lucky" I can't afford a 1DMkIIN.

I was able to find one! Also included another Bay Area band 45 -- signed no less and if you look close that's Snakefingers autograph in the bottom right.

Oh and btw, I also have the 135L. It is an amazing lens!

awesomeness.

'chewing hides the sound' could be one of the best ever titles of a record.
