Woods are a hugely difficult subject because of the interplay of sunlight and shadows. If you have time (both at the moment and later) and a tripod, you might try using high dynamic range techniques to pick up some shadow detail while still capturing the sunny spots. Done right, that could be gorgeous (that is definitely a wonderful forest!).

Also, it looks like the pictures might not be straight. #2, especially, has trees that lean to the left.
