I am currently trying to work on home studio lighting to be portable and go to clients houses with my equipment. This helps me reduce the cost of studio hire as well as makeing the client more relaxed. Kit consisting of courtney 2000 flash head, courtney 350 flash head, sigma flash set to slave for hair/rear lighting, portable back drop and stands. I am having both main flashes to the clients right main flash through a translusent brolley for side lighting. seccond flashat 45 degrees on the same side set power down. finaly the sigma flash directly behind the client to rimlight the hair. I can not seem to get the right amount of shadow on the face the pictures are all very evenly light, i am trying to get a more moody mysterious look? Any ideas from the experts out there please ?

It sounds to me like you have no shadows. Try this. Place one light (called the "fill" light) directly behind the photographer aimed at the subject. Meter and adjust it until you get F 5.6. Set up another light at a 45 degree angle about 2/3rds of the way between the photographer and the subject, again aimed at the subject (this light is the "main" light.) Meter it with the dome pointed directly at the main light, with the meter held under the chin of the subject. Fire the fill light which will (should) fire the main light. Adjust the power of the main light ONLY until you get F 11. Place the aperture on the camera at F 11 and shoot. You will have shadows on the face opposite the side the main light is on, like in my image below.

You may get a better response by posting this question in the lighting forum instead of the critique forum...
