Just playing around on a rainy, freezing day. I was experimenting with lighting setups when Dana walked into the shot. I just turned the camera on her and shot. The red you see around her fur is from a slave flash with a red gel.

The second shot is Remy, my younger pup, doing what he does best: guarding the top of the stairs. He loves to lay up there and look down upon his humans.

I know! And I had never heard of the name before my wife suggested it for him. She said it was the name of the rat in the movie "Ratatouille".

Yeah, I'm lucky to have two very different versions. Dana is an "open coat" shepherd with long, soft fur. She only weighs in at 72lbs., which puts her at the light end of the GSD scale. Remy, on the other hand, has the shorter, sleek fur and weighs 150lbs.! Despite that, she is still the boss of him, and me for that matter. :)

I can't imagine 150lbs... my Zeus is about 82 lbs and a challenge to lift him for sure!

Yeah, there's no lifting Remy. Even the vet just crouches down to examine him. When you try to lift him, he puts his nose close to your face and gives you that "are you sure you want to try this, bud?", look that GSD's are so good at. If you insist on trying, he just sticks that long tongue out and starts licking your eyeballs until you give up. He licked the vet's glasses off his face once, and that was the last time he tried the lifting thing. Much easier to just come down to his level. It's really not that far, anyway.

Rio is a great looking boy. We had a 50kg boy who had the softest nature, he knew he was big & nothing phased him!

I was trying for a "hero" shot. Something to put on the wall. I don't think I quite got it. This one's nice, but he doesn't stand out from the background enough for me. I guess I'll have to wait until spring.

Hope no one minds me sharing all this. I love this thread.

Move him further from the background to blur the trees more, and try some fill light on his face to isolate him a little more. He's a gorgeous dog.

Fabulous photos Istie. Your pup looks very confident and focussed in the ring and looks to have gone superbly for his handler. Thanks for sharing them, they are a treat to see. I love all the stance shots of the dogs. Fantastic :)

This is my GSD Koa, she was the runt of the litter which is why I picked her. Had to put her down a week shy of her 10th birthday due to spreading cancer ruining her quality of life. Koa was quickly loosing control of her bowls and had trouble eating and occasionally getting up to move. I had been away at school for two years and barely seen her so it was pretty devastating to deal with that. Either way, she was a fantastic, loyal dog...a little neurotic, but lovable nonetheless. Acted like she was a puppy up until a year before she died.

She would sit in the sun for hours on end, even when it was over a hundred degrees outside, get in the pool for a few minutes and then lay back out.

I was raised with a dog and a few cats in the house all the time pretty much. Since moving out - I've not had a pet in over 21 yrs now and long story short - I've got to look after my friend's GS & I'd forgotten how attached we can get. Seems I was desensitized but now I can feel for anyone who misses their K9.

He is so mischievous. If he wants a fuss he will sit in front of me waiting and if I take too long to fuss him, he will nudge my hand. I was drinking a glass of pepsi when all of a sudden he nudged underneath my hand to say, come on mum, give me my fuss. Well up jerked the glass, out came the pepsi, in my eyes, my nose, running down my chin. Hubby is sat there on the chair killing himself laughing. It was one of those gotcha moments!! My husband said it was the look on my face of utter shock as the pepsi tipped all down me. I really wasn't expecting it. lol And Kodi is sat there with an angelic smile as if butter wouldn't melt. :lol:
