I had a list of names and was saying them to him and Bohdi just popped into my head and fit, so that is how Bohdi came to be.

Photos are not very good I'm afraid as my friend took them with her mobile camera. But thought I would share them anyway. They are photos of my boy Kodi, having a swim in the Dog Spa. I take him swimming for alternative exercise as it works lots of different muscle groups, it's low impact and it's fantastic anaerobic exercise as well as being lots of fun for him. He also goes on the water treadmill which he absolutely loves too. As soon as we get in the room, he is pulling to get on the treadmill and has a whale of a time working, but playing with his toys at the same time in the water.

Thank you haileylommen! Beau is actually a liver sable. The liver gives him the chocolate muzzle, nose, and eyelid color. It also gives him the much lighter eyes, though I think yellow eyes are rare even for livers. The liver gene also gives his fur a reddish-chocolate sheen in certain lighting.

The sable gives him two coat colors on every piece of fur. Half is black, while the other half is his undercoat color. It's pretty neat. Being a sable also causes him to go through all kinds of color changes. I think it will be awhile longer before he settles into his 'true colors'. Even then his coat can vary quite a bit from summer to winter. I had no idea what a sable or liver was until I got Beau.

I had no idea that he would completely change from how he looked as a pup. If someone showed me his puppy picture and what he looks like now, I'd swear they were two different dogs!

I have heard of sables, not livers though! May have to look into this coloring when I decide to add another Shep to my herd. ;)

LOVE, LOVE this thread! Such good looking pups!! I recently added a third dog to our family (now we have 2 GSD's, and 1 Belgian Malinios, all rescues). I work with a few GSD Rescues, and I brought my first foster dog home. She was at a high kill shelter, and when I asked about her (she was NOT on the adopt list) they said she was "aggressive," and they planned to euthanize her in the next few hours. However, they could not tell me in what way she was aggressive. She was a "rescue only" so I was able to pull her to foster (after I evaluated her and found a shut down & VERY scared girl). She is probably a little over a year old. We had her 4 weeks, my brother adopted her, she quit eating, drinking, and had severe diarrhea. We picked her back up (3 hours away), and she was suddenly cured once she saw us, and our dogs!! So we kept her! Her name is Stormy Alice, I named her Stormy, my brother named her Alice. She is a black GSD, SWEET, smart, platful, & follows me around everywhere! She has never, ever shown any aggression! I wonder how many other dogs never get adopted because of an incorrect label :( WHEN YOU ARE READY FOR ANOTHER GSD, CHECK YOUR LOCAL SHELTERS, OUR RESCUES HAVE FOUND THE MOST AWSOME GSD'S THERE!!

I have never heard that statistic before! Explains why my dogs are so wiped out after swimming! My newest GSD likes to swim the most, but they all will get in the pool. Your dog really enjoys himself by the look of the pictures!

I always admired people who could stack their puppy at such young age and then be able to take a picture of it. :)
I could never get mine to stack when I wanted her to and if she did it was for a milisecond. its a bit easier now.

Thanks for the kind words on my dogs, especially Stormy! It is so difficult to work German shepherd Rescue's, I want to save them all, and my heart breaks when I cannot get one out, and they put it to sleep (PTS). I want to stop doing it so I would not have to think about it, but I know that even saving one makes a difference. Anyone that lives in So. California, the shelters are overloaded with beautiful German shepherds. SO PLEASE THINK RESCUE IF YOU WANT ANOTHER DOG!! Thanks Claire, she has just started to settle down & is so much nicer to be with. We walk for about an hour every day (at least 5 out of 7 days a week), go to training on a Monday night & she luvs to be with you. She was a gift from the breeder of our previous girl Elsa who died of heart failure at 8 mths.

All the photos were taken with the nifty fifty on my 7d & flash (430 exII)

Thanks Claire he is a muscular chap always has been the first photo he is sat on a hill so looks slightly bigger cos of his stance i think haha but he has always been 52kg since 2yrs old that has never changed and boy the things this boy lifts is unreal i recon he was a body builder in his previous life lol :))x
